i was in an electric shop the other day buying a freezer, and saw a lg tv they had, which came with two pairs of glasses.
Instead of split screen gaming, it managed to show two pictures full screen simultaneously, and the glasses filtered out the picture perfectly.
What sort of tv is that? Some sort of 3d? Does it work with any split screen game?

Yeah - 3D. It's called 'dual play' functionality, so rather than having split screen you both get full screen.
Thinking about it, I image the glasses are arranged so that each pair of glasses has opposite polarisation, rather than each separate lens, Clever idea, and it looked perfect.
obviously works with passive glasses, but not active.
I presume it would work just as well with either? - assuming both TV and glasses are designed for it of course.

Yes but more expensive to design an active glass for this limited use. Passive glasses cost pennies to make/buy, and seem to lend themselves to the idea.
Presumably it would be easy enough to make active glasses that could be switched either way?, so get the best of both worlds.
I imagine the LG set can be used as a 'normal' 3D as well?, but obviously requires 3D glasses.
The low price of passive glasses seems to be forcing 3D that way, particularly as it's not been terribly successful, and active glasses are just too expensive.
Personally I've no interest in 3D, but the gaming glasses seem pretty cool
It actually works ok, just the same, but you have to use one eye only. Because of this, you are only getting "half " the image, so probably a bit darker.
Slight bit of "crosstalk" too, but nothing too bad. Maybe a probem with the 3d feature on my tv. Still better than splitscreen, i thought.
This was with a samsung tv.
So thinking anout it, they probably could add an active glass mode that sets both lens to work the same, rather than opposite.
