I'm just about to send some letters off and I've found a book of Christmas stamps, are they still usable?
I know the price has gone up since Christmas...

I think you can still use them, if they are 1st class they willl probably be send 2nd class. If they are 2nd class I wouldnt use them but on the otherhand you could go and buy 1 or 2p stamps.
The reason stamps have "1st" and "2nd" on them is so they can still be used after the price of 1st, 2nd class postage increases.
They can still be used even if they are years old.

You don't need to put two on each envelope. If they are marked '1st class', that's how they will be classed and they are perfectly usable at any time, as are any unused stamps.
Sorry about the three duplicate posts (one I changed). My comp is badly lagging and DS pages are not loading, I thought my post wasn't being sent. By the time I got back in, the edit time had run out. Apologies for messing up.

If they are just marked 1st class then they can be used as 1st class regardless of the increase in postage.
Snowmen, pah! I have some with robins on, and that was three years ago, I think. And I just finished up a load of angel stamps that were from before they put 1st or 2nd. Mother keeps giving me Christmas stamps, in the hope I might send Christmas cards. So far it's not been a particularly successful strategy.
I actually posted a letter today, with a stamp on that I've had since 2000. It's not that I'm mean, just that I have a lot of 40p stamps that I'd acquired then and see no reason not to use them still.

Hope this helps a wee bit.
I might put 2 on each envelope just to use them up?

1st class stamps can be used for first class posage regardless of when they were issued.

When I buy stamps I buy them in books but I wish they wouldn't give me these silly Christmas one's as it takes me a few months to get through them.
I just want normal stamps thanks.
Well if you find old stamps you might find old money and it's good to know
You ask for the standard ones, that's what I do.
