I find that multiplayer games you can share together get a lot more talk about them than single player games, particularly ones where your own adventure can be so different to anyone elses.
Have this on the PS3 but I think my copy is faulty, once I get to the top ofthe radio tower & need to make my wayback down, the game freezes whenever I go in the elevator or back on the door
Absolutely fantastic game, thinking about trading it in for the 360 version for the achievements (I know the PS3 version has the trophies but for some reason I prefer achievements, don't know why though, I'm just a wierdo!
I really loved it till I got out of the vault... got to the town with the bomb in it, then tried to find the radio station and keep getting killed coming out of the underground.
Kind of lost interest and played GoW 1 & 2 thru, now I'm struggling to get back into it...
I've never played anything quite like it and I'm finding it a bit bewildering... mostly wandering around lost beating up those rat things.

Guess I'm missing something?
The secret is to perservere. I found it a bit underwhelming until I started getting to the new places and into the story a bit more and levelling up.
I bought this on release day and played through the initial vault section, walked outside and was astounded by the view- but haven't touched it since then. The problem is that the avalanche of games pre-xmas has meant I've had too many games to play at once. Normally I'll start on a game and play it till I'm done with it, but I've been flitting between 5-6 different games over the last couple of months as well as a couple of arcade games. As such, I decided to wait until I was ready to devote some time to Fallout alone. This isn't really the sort of game you want to leave for a few weeks then pick up again, I've noticed most people on my list who play it are on it solidly all the time. I'll probably start it in the next couple of months and pick up the DLC too- the first one is next Monday or something isn't it?

Tuesday mate. Yeah ive had the same problem..tons of games to play but I cant pull myself off Fallout at the minute..looks like i'll have to finish this then go back to others.
Yeah, I'm with Bigwill on this,
I'd love to be able to get immersed in this game, but all I seem to do is wander around getting killed.
I don't seem to have the firepower to survive, all I have is a measley 45 cal pistol, and a beat up hunter rifle.
To try and kill 4 ghouls etc is impossible.
Maybe I've missed something, or just hav'nt grasped the fundamentals.
It's just becoming boring now.
Are you using VATS (Right bumper), you use the right stick to select body parts and left stick to select different enemies (if there are more than 1). If you have enough AP points you can take shots at different limbs in one slow motion go (Right trigger till you use all the points, then A to confirm you are happy with your shot selection). If you wait till the enemy is quite close you can choose 3-4 shots aimed at the enemies face and get a slow motion kill with a head flying into the air. Retreat and wait or blast away in free shot till your AP points recharge. VATS can also be used to identify enemies and centralise your aim even if you don't have any AP points left (just click the Right bumper, enemies should flash up and your aim should centralise, click Right bumper again then start shooting.

You don't have very good weapons at the start, but if you use VATS you should easily be able to progress.
Yes i've tried that VATS thing,
First, what do the pecentages mean?
I used it to target the head of a "MoleRat" I think it was called, but after firing the thing just kept coming.
When do I get a decent assault rifle.
There should be a more concise instruction booklet included with some of these type of games.

The % are the chances that you will hit with one shot. So if you are at a distance they will be at like 9%, 11% etc but up close the shots will be at like 80%+.
You were probably shooting from a distance and missing.
You get the assault rifles etc as you continue playing..say after about 5-10 hours in.
I thought Fallout 3 was a bit of a breeze. Keep at it Foxzface. Killing things gets slightly easier as you level up - the first missions I would do is to head straight for Moira's Craterside Supply Shack in Megaton City as soon as you get out of Vault 101.
Also, seeing that you are having equipment problems - here's how to repair your items...
You have a beat up Hunting Rifle in your inventory - kill something with another Hunting Rifle or simply buy or find another one. Then go back into your inventory and highlight your original rifle - now press Y to bring up the repair menu...
Now that you have a second Rifle, select it and press A.
Your original Hunting Rifle's condition should improve while your secondary rifle has disappeared. (Also lightening your load a little.) Having a high repair skill will mean you can get your weapon's condition much higher and you the do higher damage with weapons in better condition.
Like SamGamgee said, wait till you're up close and personal till you use VATs to improve your chances of hitting your enemy. (I tend to do this with Deathclaws and Yao Guai with my Combat Shotguns...)
When you level up, always be sure to put a good few points on your Small Guns skills.
Fallout 3 is difficult at the start, and the fact that you can wander to any location from as soon as you exit the vault, it can mean that you can soon find yourself well out of your depth.
Initially I missed Megaton (city northeast of Vault 101) altogether and just wandered blindly Northwards, before I knew it I was in the Germantown Ploice HQ having the living poop kicked out of me by Super Mutants. Not fun. As soon as you start levelling up, though, things become slightly easier. Save regularly, keep checking back to Megaton for stimpaks and all will be well.
The game is awesome
I also lost a bit of interest after exiting the Vault ... chucked the game aside and carried on with others but felt strangely guilty that I hadn't given it a fair crack of the whip. Started it up again last Saturday and never stopped all weekend. Particularly glad tonight is Friday as I'm intending to settle down with a few cold ones and complete the Wasteland Survival Guide side task well into the wee hours ...
hahaha I blew up megaton, I am at rivet city now. I love this game, I have it for the PS3 but might get it for the 360 aswell for the dlc (once I have bought a 360 that is)
Well, played a bit more last night, ended up in a disused station, chevy chase I think. got chased by two super mutants but havnt got the firepower to kill them.
Will head back to Megaton and trade some stuff I reckon.
I really need to get to the radio station though, i keep wandering off!

But have to agree, it is a bloody good game

Thanks for your help Guys.
Amazing isnt it. I thought Bioshock wouldnt be beaten for a long while in terms of atmosphere but it has.

My favourite weapon has got to be the Combat shotgun and is essential when fighting Mirelurks in close quarters.
