This is really sad because all of them have fantastic voices, but obviously their market is getting considerable smaller. Alicia has done the best of the four, but her album didn;t make it into the UK top 10 and was her lowest sales in the USA. 5-10 years ago these girls were ruling the charts. How times have changed.
What has gone wrong?? And will they recover

Times always change.
And they will again.:)
I really hope so because these woman are incredibly talented
I think her next era will be amazing.
Some artists have a nice long run, and then people simply move on. Very few people stay on top forever. Celine Dione is still a great and respected singer, but she's now doing residency's in Las Vegas, not shifting millions of albums anymore.
Adele and Emeli are the "Divas" people want to hear right now. Their time will come as well when people move on from them, and some new Divas will come along and sell more than them.
Beyonce feels like she's been fading for awhile. Her last era wasn't massive. Her "ultimate power couple" relationship with Jay-Z is probably what's keeping her so relevant at the moment. Sort of like Brangelina.
Rhianna seems to be overshadowing her (everything Rhianna touches turns into an easy hit, while Beyonce has to work her butt off for success) even though Beyonce is about a thousand times more talented.
One era that is still very much successful but not 'massive' doesn't make a fading music star.
She's not Aguilera or Leona....
Rihanna isn't overshadowing her at all, she just has new music out every year. She's known for having good singles and for churning out albums at a ridiculous pace. She's not respected or particularly critically acclaimed and many people understand that Beyonce's quality over Rihanna's quantity is much better.
THANK YOU!! MTE
Alicia keys is a "musician" (more than an actual "Diva". Most Diva's are considered to have powerhouse voices, but while Keys is a capable singer, she's the weakest vocalist of any mentioned so far. Adele and Emeli have stronger voices). Keys reputation is based on the fact that she plays the piano and writes her own songs.
Mariah is a "muscian" as well, as she writes a large amount of her own songs and is regarded as an accomplished songwriter. Adele and Emeli can be lumped in with this lot as well.
As I stated out of those I mentioned Alicia has been the most successful, she got a top 5 hit in singles in the UK and number 1 album in the states with her lowest selling album to date. However in the UK her last album got number 1 this one didn't make the top 10
Ditto
They actually write songs rather than the ego-stroking "co-write"
i think depending on how her future singles go down it could benefit the album if i recall correctly her last album didn`t hit #1 here until a few singles in?? i can`t remember where it debuted tho ?
I think Aguilera needs to forget about being a "popstar" now and just concentrate on being a pure vocalist. She needs to be doing material like Adele or Emeli, not trying to squeeze herself into catsuits and sing about sexcapades. She's no longer got the body to be pulling off that sort of thing anyway. If she comes back with a classy image, and sticks to singing, I think she could make a huge comeback, as she's generally regarded as the voice of her generation.
i like Beyonce, but as I said in my edited post, Jay-Z is keeping her relevant. He's the biggest and most iconic star in the family now. Which is ironic, because a few years ago in the UK (till he killed it at Glastonbury), most people would have said "Jay-Z who?"
Have you actually looked at the writing credits on Emeli Sande's album?
Sande has not got one single song on it, credited to her alone. Some of her songs have up to 5 writers. She's the Queen of "co-writing credits". She's no different from Mariah Carey, who had less co-writers on some of her early albums.
Same for Adele. Not one single song on 21 written by her alone. They let her have some solo credits on her first, much less succesful album, but the most memorable songs, like Chasing Pavements, had several writers.
You are falling for the same marketing hype that is used for other "co-writing singers" to make them seem like more "credible artists". Adele and Emeli need help to write hits as well.
I love Mariah but be honest she`s struggled since TEOMM especially her last album Memoirs
He meant probably writing lyrics.
No people didn't lose interest actually because her second album "Echo" although it didn't sell as well as Spirit, it was a big seller and "Happy" was a hit worldwide... There have just been some very bad decisions made in her career. But all she needs is another hit song and people will be interested again, this happens all the time with popstars... It's too early to say it's over now.
Alicia is not utterly flopping, but she's become stale, predictable and boring. I used to be a fan, but unless she goes back to jazzy/ blues music like her debut and 'Diary', she will have to settle for Brandy/ Monica status very soon I'm afraid.
I don't think there's any saving Leona atm. All the other ladies have had at least 3 smash albums to fall back on and claim their die-hard fanbase, but Leona failed on the crucial and career defining 3rd album.
As far as Beyonce goes (not in the thread title, but mentioned in some posts above), she will never return to 'Dangerously In Love' sales or 'Sasha Fierce' fame, but she can sustain a decent career, mostly as an album seller from now on. I just hope she doesn't make the mistake of trying to do Rihanna type of pop, because that would be her 'Bionic' moment.
