Am wondering do the contestants get paid a stipend or something when they reach live show stage of x factor?
Obviously they are getting accommodation and meals but what about everything else e.g. clothes, phone credit, drinks. ciggies, etc, etc..
With all the hard luck stories that come with many contestants. If they usually work how can they afford to stop work? If they don't work - they would hardly get their usual welfare benefits if not available for work or if they are having their living costs funded by xfactor

It's not much mind, but then they have a lot (housing, utility bills, tv, food, etc) paid for. Plus I expect they get a lot of freebies from PR companies
Would be interested to see if anyone in the know can confirm...
Last 6 = £40,000 (To Be Precise)
Bullshit.
Believe Me Or Not.
I Couldnt Care Less
Is that each or the total between the last 6?
I know (from www & papers, etc) that they are paid for the x factor tour. But I just can't see anywhere what the situtaion is for the live shows.
I only ask because I wonder if the pressure of their money situation would affect their performances. It couldn't be easy to go up on stage and sing happy happy and keep smiling if you haven't the money to keep up rent or childcare or loan payments.
Its hard enough to keep going in the real world with those types of worries, never mind try and be entertaining at the same time for judges, live and tv audiences
e.g Mary will be getting same as her Tesco wages
anyone not working/student would get an allowance for living expenses
Quite a difference from a flat fee of £40,000 for the last six eh
She will be missing out on her Clubcard points. I hope this is being taken into account.
Thank you. If possible can you add a link for where that info is available.:)
i have worked for tv production companies, same with big brother, etc
they become employees of simoncowellinc whilst on the show and are subject to essentially an employment contract
they have to declare their income before hand and if their income is proved, they get paid pro-rata
That would be why the producers make their choices, to save money!
in the scheme of things i dont think they do
there wont be any contestants that are on the show that are earning £1000+ plus
most are low waged, and you have to prove your income, you cant say i earn £1000 a week and they pay it
x-factor is big budget so spending £5000-10000 per week on salary isnt alot
and this figure drops as people are voted out.
people who make the tour get an agreed wage for that which is staggered depending on your placing on the show.
but even the amount for the tour isnt alot, remember from phone votes to ticket sales the aim is to make money not promote the artists
