The Prophecy - the plot is thin enough to slay a monster and some dialogue are chunky enough to weigh down an elephant, but it offers interesting ideas, fun performances and a streak of dark humour. Example (names removed in case of spoilers):
Character A: Go to hell!
Character B: Heaven, darling, Heaven. At least get the zip code right.
Character A: It's all the same to you, isn't it?
Character B: No! In Heaven, we believe in love.
Character A: What do you love, (name)?
Character B: Cracking your skull.
It's a good fun B-movie. Enough to be one of my favourites.
Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
Shawshank Redemption
Million Dollar Baby
Sound of Music
Depends on my mood really, there are plenty of other films I love, I don't think I could pick one overall favourite - if forced it'd probably be Return of the King, but I can go years without watching that too...
It's a amazing adaption of the stage musical. Just as good, if not better, than the West End version. It features a fantastic cast, great singing, great camera shots...great everything.
I don't think that these days I could name just one favourite, though I used to say Seven Samurai, or Hiroshima Mon Amour, that sort of thing.
But I will put in a word for someone who does not get much mention round here, Sidney Lumet. Twelve Angry Men, and Dog Day Afternoon are great films, and he made others. .
