Lee will also be participating in the Olympic torch event in Chelmsford on 6 July, singing a song (called 'Gold of course!) especially composed for the event:
I was at the Guildford concert and it was a fantastic evening with Lee, Kerry Ellis, Matt Rawle and Stephen Rahman-Hughes all in great voice. There was a good range of songs and some interesting arrangements which helped to keep even the most well-known material fresh. A particular favourite of mine was 'Bring Him Home', sung by all three men with some beautiful harmonies, and a rousing Bohemian Rapsody with the whole company on stage to end the evening
Lee has just finished a four week run in Jack & The Beanstalk.
In a recent interview, he mentioned a possible album and tour for later this year. He also mentioned that he's planning on going back to LA in March to audition for TV and Film roles. Also, he's hoping for a West End Men tour at some point this year.
Camberley Theatre, Surrey, Friday 27 September 2013
(tickets not on sale yet but apparently special arrangements have been made for fans to purchase tickets before anyone else - anyone wishing to book tickets should ring 01276 707600 and quote FANCLUB on 11th MARCH from MIDDAY onwards. Tickets will then go on sale to Friends of the Theatre on 15th March and, at the end of March, the show will go on sale to the general public).
And Lee's Facebook page has news of another concert in Cheltenham:
"We are delighted to let you know that Lee has been invited to perform at Cheltenham Town Hall on Sunday 29th September with his own show.
We have once again been able to get priority booking for you as Cheltenham have kindly agreed for Lee's fans to call the box office (ticket hotline 0844 576 2210) on MARCH 22ND quoting the reference LM2013. Tickets will then go on sale on 23rd March to the public."
Busy time for Lee with the concerts in Camberley and Bedworth the same weekend!
"We are thrilled to announce that Lee will be starring in West End Men IN THE WEST END! From 25th May until 22nd June - book your seats now!
THE WEST END MEN
VAUDEVILLE THEATRE
25 MAY – 22 JUNE
PRESS NIGHT 3 JUNE AT 7PM
Performances: Monday – Saturday at 8.00pm
Saturday matinee at 3.00pm
Press Night 3 June at 7.00pm
Kerry Ellis is the 'special guest' for some of the dates and the rest of the 'men' are to be announced - presumably two will join Lee if the concerts follow the same format as last year's WEM concerts.
I think the Casting Shows were about getting people into the industry (or making the leap from understudy/ensemble to leading roles) with the goal of career longevity. Hence so many contestants are still in the industry and doing well, years after their Casting Show appearances. It was always a far more realistic proposition than the X-Factor/BGT type shows where it was all about becoming an instant Star.
If anyone is interested in getting tickets to see the West End Men at the Vaudeville Theatre in London, the Lee Mead Appreciation Society is giving away some tickets for free!
TICKET GIVE AWAY - THERE ARE 5 PAIRS OF OPENING NIGHT (25 MAY 2013) TICKETS TO WIN, PLUS A PAIR OF TICKETS TO PRESS NIGHT (3rd JUNE 2013).
What was the last West End show that Lee starred in?
A) Legally Blonde Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
C) Wicked
Send your answer A, B or C to lmasloppies@hotmail.co.uk with your full name.
That's an interesting new venture for Lee. The Pheasantry is an intimate cabaret space with a capacity of 80 so should be quite different to his 'regular' concerts. Appearing with Lee will be ‘Wicked’ star ASHLEIGH GRAY; Musical Director, multi-instrumentalist & record producer, MASON NEELY; and West End MD, musical arranger and pianist, WILL STUART.
Doors apparently open at 7pm but the show does not start until 8.30pm (to allow time for people to finish eating). There will be 2 x 45 minute sets plus a 20 minute interval - plus any encores - so it should finish by 10.30/10.45pm.
