What films do you think are insightful in their approach towards mental health?
I watched Jacob's Ladder, a film I had not seen for years. Just to summarize it is about a Vietnam veteran who experiences post war result in him having a series of flashbacks and he begins to lose his sense of reality. i thought it was quite an underrated film and presented an engaging perspective on the effects of war and how it impacts someone's psychological state of mind
What films do you think were good or interesting that were either centered or included the theme mental health? Or what films were intriguing and made you think about the psychological perspectives within their narrative?

I think Silver Linings Playbook was a bit silly, if anybody normal behaved in the way Pat Jr.'s psychiatrist did, they'd be disciplined immediately
is a very good film that highlights the breakdown and institutionalising of the musician, David Helfgott.
It is also heartbreaking to watch.
Geoffrey Rush is brilliant as Helfgott, and fully deserved his Oscar.
Wasn't Jacob's Ladder meant to depict someone's experience of Limbo? It's an excellent film, though. One I might watch again later, actually.
Superb list. Would have been nice if you'd said a little about them, though. A nice mixture, too, ranging from deluded former film stars, an alcoholic, a mother fixated voyeuristic murderer, and a stalker.
Yes it is, but if you watch it the character loses sense of reality and starts becoming paranoid about the world about him. There is also that scene where he meets up with a fellow war veteran and he says to Jacob 'what happened to us all out there.' Implying, what did Vietnam turn us all into. It taps into the drugs issue and the experimentation that occurred during that war.
That's a great and very memorable scene. The actor who plays that veteran (don't know his name) often plays little cameos here and there (turned up in The Walking Dead recently) and is always good.

Also, two notables regarding mental health:
The Madness of King George
Repulsion
That's a good call.
