(nexus 7 - not sure if target audience or not, though do use current mobile skin. Will try with phone later)
no way of jumping from list of subscribed threads to first new post - always takes you to first post of the thread. (unlike current skin which has a little purple arrow that jumps you to the right page/post)
No bolding, as previously mentioned.
List of subforums WAY too spaced out versus the old mobile skin.
No access to the news articles on DS. (current skin has a navigation menu that lets you read articles too)
Good to see the tiny page number navigation disappear, but that's the only pro I see so far.
You'll be glad to hear that jumping from subscribed threads to first new post and access to the news articles will be returning shortly.
The sub-forum list should appear with the same sizing/spacing as the forum homepage which has large(ish) buttons designed for a touch screen. Is there a particular section where it looks too spaced out?
Looks much better and works well on my HTC wildfire, Android. I can clearly see links now which is nice as before I was just guessing that people had added one. I would still like to be able to 'spoiler' tag my posts.
We removed the pop-ups and complicated editor to reduce load times and make it easier to use. You can however manually do a spoiler by typing:
Skin looks good but only works on the page displaying the list of forums. Once you go into a forum I still get the same old nasty looking old one. Selecting desktop site also has never made any difference. Phone is Galaxy Nexus running jellybean.
That's a bit bizarre, do you often use the old mobile skin? Might be worth clearing your phone's cache to see if that helps.
Nice and clean on android latest software on phone. The only thing that I don't like is the type of ad revenue you use. It overtakes the whole screen sometimes with the x to close it disappearing. And if you're moving through multiple pages quickly it can become annoying fast.
Would you ever consider developing an app that can be paid for to access on phones.
Kudos on trying to make it fresh though. Its nice.
One suggestion, enable posters that use their phones to be able to see smileys. I saw what you said about spoiler tags, but it would be better with them.
Working well on my Galaxy SII. However I find the black bars where usernames and time of post is displayed rather distracting and harsh on the eyes when reading.
Any chance of links being highlighted in a post? Its not always obvious which words are part of the link so you have to keep tapping on the text in the post to find it!
It'd be good to show the ones you've read in bold so you can see whether the threads been updated. Feel stupid for saying this but my iPad shows the website as it is on the computer but the iPhone has a really odd version of it! I thought they'd be the same, but I'm guessing that as an iPad is like a computer that it'd be more representative of that.

Hi Biffo & Minnimo - The full screen ads shouldn't be showing as frequently as they are, so I'll speak to our ad team about that.
Will log other pieces of feedback but in the meantime you can enter smilies by using their applicable codes, e.g :) and and these will show the faces on both the normal and mobile versions of the forums.
I much preferred the simplicity of the previous mobile bit. This is all a bit to busy for my liking.
Sorry to hear you think it's too busy! We were actually hoping this one would be less busy as it's spaced out a bit better and uses less harsh colours (blues and greys rather than purple).

Hi Ber, I think you might still be looking at the old purple mobile skin? The new blue/grey one highlights links in a blueish colour where the normal text is black

Hi Piper, we'll be adding the bold title functionality back in a few days. iPads will use the normal forum design as they have a much bigger screen, but you can change between views on any device via the options on the purple bar (desktop version) and the 'Desktop' button on the mobile version of the website.
desktop site works. but not for login since last website changes few weeks ago. so i normally just select styleid=51 on url for old mobile skin which works fine.
javascript tends to hang k.k. browser so normally i hav it off.
newer skin i see is styleid=54. unfortunately it requres javascript on for the newer "media player" navigation buttons. not good on kindle so i'll use older skin while available.
DS can of course be read on mobiliser services like skweezer.com etc but login is then inactive .........
the new skin probably looks better and easier to use on typical moble phone screen. on tablets i dont think thats an issue really .....
Looks a lot better than the old mobile forum on my phone (Samsung Galaxy GTI5800).
Tried on the phones stock browser, Opera Mobile & Opera Mini and it works fine on all 3 browsers. On opera mini it also fits the screen properly now as well. On the previous version of the mobile forum it didn't quite fit the screen on Opera Mini.
the new mobile skin seems pretty good. it will be easier to use on most mobile phone screens (i dont currently have a mobile phone) and about the right balance between more functions most people want and not becoming too visually cluttered.
i suppose javascript is the logical way. as said that tends to hang the kindle but thats just the idiosyncracy of Amazon's "experimental" k.k. web browser. if the styleid=51 option were removed i wd find it very difficult to login on a kindle although reading only is no problem.
the prospect of developing apps for all tne different tablet and phone standards must seem a bit grim !
can't log in to the desktop view of the site on either my phone or tablet because of that stupid floating login window.
The desktop view really isn't designed to be used on a mobile device. If you do wish to use it rather than a mobile skin I'd recommend logging in via the mobile skin first, then switching to the desktop view again.

Is it just the page change arrows which aren't working on the Kindle? Although we hadn't intended for tablet users to use the skin, that should be an easy fix.

We will be reintroducing the bold titles, arrow buttons and some form of navigation to the main DS website shortly.

Oh dear, that doesn't sound good. What's up?
Sorry about that, we'll re-add post times for 'yesterday' posts.

cleaned up works great in Opera Mini
Repeat what others have said re. post and viewed count being visible.

I viewed it on an Xperia Arc S

Suggestions:
- Jump to first unread post
- Some of the ads are too frequent and annoying
Will carry on playing though

Once the improvements are made with highlighting new posts and taking you to next newest post, i'll be using it full time.
Thumbs up from me.
