Obviously I'm ecstatic, won money and I admire his work so far but what is your opinion? Hope to get a poll set up.

Moffat should be applauded for going against the grain and fighting the trend of recent years and also not condescending to the ridiculous myth that children and young people cannot relate to older characters. Its nonsense. Of course a few silly brats are going 'Ewwwwww he so old' but theyll soon get over it when the OneD movie comes out. The general reaction is massively positive because he is a fantastic actor.
When I was a kid I wanted to be Jon Pertwee. I didn't want to be Luke Skywalker or Zach Morris from Saved by the Bell. I am sure people of all ages will fall in love with Peters doctor if he is well written. That's all that matters. Doctor Who attracted the Twilight and Harry Potter brigade...it never pandered to them. It just happened. Why should they cater for that demographic of kids on the internet who spend too much time on tumblr or any other niche group? Moffat has proven he cares more about the quality of the actor and getting the right guy rather than appeasing focus groups and shallow concerns about being able to sell the show to teenyboppers.
Bravo Moffat.
Plenty of worse choices mentioned though.
Hopefully Clara will last a year and then the 12th Doctor can get a new female assistant played by a 30 something actress whom is also a damn good actress like Anna Friel or Katherine Kelly.
Yes its time we had a 40+ actor in the role. Hes 55 so great to see this.
And the kids will fancy him anyway. Alan Rickman, anyone?
Mmm, Alan Rickman...
I think the most interesting speculation is what that direction is going to be, if it's totally different to Matt as they say.
I just hope the writing will be up to scratch. I'm in the camp who thought the last series was 'patchy'.
Moffat's scripts were among the better examples, admittedly...
Sorry ill do that now, asked the mods to alter it as I'm clueless how to do it, again apologies to all for my mistake:o
In all seriousness, yes he was imo. He's a very different choice of actor to the ones I've been used to (I'm a New Who guy), so I'm looking forward to see how he plays the Doctor. I'm sure he'll be splendid!
I'll miss Matt, he's my favourite so far, but this show is all about change.
