Tina Weymouth of Talking Heads was a bass player and pretty good at it but there aren't many female bands which might explain the low numbers. Girls generally don't play guitar.

I suppose you could add KT Tunstall. Her breakthrough perfomance on Later guitar wise was more due to the effect pedal she used.
She admitted in during the interview that most kids wanted to know what equipment she used rather than about her music
