The last time i posted about an annnoying presenter it got taken down and i was told off:p
Apparently certain historical reference points might offend.Mmmm, thank goodness for twitter.I just wanted to knock the smugness out of someone who visited a theme park and had five points of moaning. It was Radio 4 for me today!:D
[QUOTE=gurney-slade;65747917 All the English newspapers are onl9ne. Go and have a nice quiet read.[/QUOTE]
I understand that we're going to have to subscribe to them soon, if we want to read them online. Daily Mail and The Times to start with, I think (or was it The Telegraph rather than The Times?)

The Times and The Sun have charged for some time. I suppose it's fair enough if they're losing revenue by people not buying the printed editions. I'm a Telegraph subscriber (I pay quarterly and get a discount) so I can access the online one free.

Now lbc talking american abduction rubbish, More boring American child claptrap story's who the hell cares, what's it got to do with us.
Talk British issues not yank issues getting bored with this.
You can't deny that it's worthy of reporting surely? It's a bizarre story.
Iain Dale appears to be in a rather bad mood this afternoon. Being very narky and condescending to callers. Been taking tips from JOB maybe?
I wish presenters would remember that the people the station wants and needs to call into their shows are most likely not politicians (or failed ones), social workers, bloggers etc and are in fact just ordinary people accepting an invitation to pass comment.

In other words drop the attitude!
Is this another example of the tension between being entertaining (I guess a lot of people like the narky presenter style, telling people what for), and the desire to be a more serious, informed news station?
Iain Dale is starting to develop habits I suspect he picked up from JoB and that is get the inarticulate right wing listeners on the radio and put them down in an as patronising and dismissive a manner as is possible.

Why would he do that, given his own political leanings?

I posted my #910 before reading your post. I had exactly the same reaction as you. Clearly Iain Dale at his poorest. And to think that I used to consider him to be a Conservative blogger. After tonight, I can't quite believe I called that so wrong.

He made a bit of a prat of himself on the LBC Politics thread this morning so maybe he's still smarting from that.

He slapped down a caller tonight after the caller claimed that certain UK politicians want to take the UK into a Federal Europe. Iain Dale retorted that "No British Politician wants to take Britain into a Federal Europe".
I loved "Down The Line," when it was on Radio Four, but haven't had a chance to catch the television series, how has it migrated, is it any good?
Bellamy's Peoplewas excellent. A lot of material was done for a second series but the Beeb didn't offer them one in the end. But at least they're back on the radio. The Nibster returns!

Pull the other one Iain
To be fair, Iain is correct. No mainstream UK politician has indicated that they want Britain to be part of a United States of Europe, not even arch Europhiles like Nick Clegg and Ken Clarke.

Lets keep this off politics, or obvious reasons, but the point I was making was that being dismissive/condescending with callers who have accepted your continual invitations to ring in with an opinion is poor form. Disagree with people by all means but theres no reason to rubbish anyones opinion. He even got into a spat about the definition of "jingoism" earlier and found it necessary to google it while the caller was speaking purely to try and prove her wrong. Which he couldn't.
He really seems to have developed a very high opinion of himself over the last few months.
I think he's turned into a complete arse, frankly.
I listened to him when he began on the internet radio station Play Radio as part of a talk station project piloted by Tommy Boyd and Duncan Barkes. Now he's on "real" radio and I suppose has people blowing sm....um, being exceptionally supportive. It's hard to remain as self-critical as normal under such conditions. I believe this is called Ricky Gervais Syndrome
Oh joy, a big football story! I hope we don't spend the rest of the day speculating on the next Man. U manager. Still, I suppose it's even worse if you live in Manchester and aren't interested.

Morning all.
On the plus side, it's diverted J O'B from his mission to save the world from the evils of UKIP.

I was banned for calling a presenter a total waste of time. Someone complained that the initials were a misspelling of a part of the female anatomy.
I'll probably get banned again for talking about now.

Don't know why! Broadcasting on LBC seems to have changed Iain Dale politically
He made a bit of a prat of himself on the LBC Politics thread this morning so maybe he's still smarting from that.
I wondered that but surely he can rise above an altercation with a few internet anoraks?
(I include myself in that description, before you all start having a go!)

Are your serious? He puts down anyone who shows any kind of criticism to right-wing politics. Say anything mean about Cameron and he cuts them off.
