Kirsty - What Happened?

When Kirsty first came into Eastenders at Christmas, I fell in love with her ballsy character. I liked that she threw a spanner in the holy Branning mix and freshened up the endless Max/Tanya storyline.
However... Her character seems to have changed beyond belief. Why would she be worried about Max ditching her if there is no baby, when he ditched her even when there was one? She's completely transformed from someone likeable to a bit of a shrew, and I'm disappointed. I wish we'd of seen more of her as a mentor to Lauren, than her having hysterics over (inevitably) being left by a serial cheater.
It seems any woman tied to a man - Roxy, Kat, Kirsty as three examples, seem to become these sour, deceiving bitches, when alone, we've seen Kat flourish in my opinion. I hope Kirsty gets the chance to, because she's a great actress bogged down by tedious stories.

She's a very good actress.
In fact Ender's is full of very good actors.
But it is saddled with writers and producers with no idea of what to do to bring out the best in those actors and cannot see beyond short term ratings grabs. A malaise that seems to be effecting a few soaps for the last couple of years.
Kirsty is a great example of that. A great actress and potentially great character if planned and written well, but brought in as a "shock" storyline that no one seems to have planned out beyond that initial entry.
I will say though that I sense absolutely no chemistry between her and Max, no love, not a sense that they actually like each other or even find each other attractive, and it is hard to tell if that is because the actors just dont gel or simply because the writing is just appalling.
Having said that, good writing and good direction will always bring out the best, and there is no excuse for this shambles when you have such strong on screen talent as EastEnders actually has.
