I remember listening to Samantha Mumba's version of "Lately", and every time I listened to it, it brought tears to my eyes, due to the way she sang it! (I didn't think it was bad the way she sang it though, it was just in an ever so beautiful way).

every time it comes on shuffle i have to skip because it makes me cry
She was meant to be THE NEXT BIG THING!!!!!!!!!!
Especially in the Irish media she was "our very own Samantha" and was going to take the world by storm.
She had a couple of good pop songs - "Baby Come On Over" - is one of my favourites but I don't think she was ever going to live up to the hype.
One of the more random things I remember about Samantha Mumba was the rather creepy comment Dr.Fox made on the radio once when introducing one of her songs. He was talking about how he loved her skin colour and how it was like chocolate that he 'just wanted lick up all day long'!
"In 2011 Mumba confirmed her retirement from music and to focus mainly on her acting career."
Shame really.
Beautiful looking woman, but you can't say that her acting work has set the world alight since though. She reminds me of a girl who I used to be in a band with, they even look a like.
It's about unbridled personal ambition without any consideration for the music or the films or maybe other people. I say that having watched the 'Get your act together with Harvey Goldsmith' in 2007, and Samantha just wouldn't listen to the advice.
I hate to sound harsh, but she was one of those girls who got odd looking as she got towards her 30s. I saw her on some show last year, and the gf had to tell me who she was.
Now she was a great singer!!! 'Gotta Tell You' ' Always Come Back To Your Love' and the amazing 'Baby Come On Over' were fantastic tunes and i thought she was great in The Time Machine to!
She never done a live tour while she was successful..and one of the few live performances I saw of hers on tv she mimed.. A few years back I seem to remember she was modelling underwear for an Irish supermarket dunes stores.. I wonder if she made much money from her time in the spotlight..
"Always Come Back To Your Love" is the song of hers which I most remember. When I was about 13, we had to do step aerobics for PE, although luckily I managed to get out of it, and that was one of the tracks which the instructor played every session. It was an odd choice, I thought.

She was the ambassador for the stop, look and listen campaign, which is why that video included so many road. True Fact
Shame really.

Rest assured even the "mighty" One Direction are 10 minutes into their 15 minutes of fame.
