I've been to Crete in the late May half term week and the weather was glorious. Most days was around 28-30 but it went up to mid 30's a couple of times.
...but somehow far more bearable, especially if you got up in the mountains.
Oh i know, but had i gone Zante or Crete....my inner partying girl would have come out. I'm not one of those who just drink all night cause thats crazy but i would stay out all night and have fun but my brother isn't like that so i chose to stay away lol.
We go 4th May and come back 12th. Maybe i could have booked towards the end of May, thus ensuring a little more warmth and sun.
I have been to Rhodes early October and it was lovely about 24- 26 degrees.
I have also been in June- they had a heat wave and the beginning of August and the heat was unbearable.
I like being able to go for a walk so May for me would be perfect. I think you'll have a lovely time- t- shirt, shorts and sandals weather.
Kalathia used to be a spa and back in the late eighties they were doing scuba diving lessons from there. The waters were crystal clear it was fabulous. I think the spa may have closed and a hotel has been built but you may able to look around the old spa.
Tsambika is a lovely quiet beach, big and expanse. We stopped of there on a boat trip and had to swim ashore at the time there was no road access and it is overlooked by a Monastry.
another good beach with crystal waters is Agathi which is just around the corner from Lindos, the boat trips from Lindos used to let people swim ashore for a while.
Both beaches had very little in the way of activities or places to eat, just a little hut. But the sand is fine and the shelve into the sea isn't steep like the pebble Rhodes Town beach.
one of the places I have always wanted to get to is st Paul's bay which you can look down on to the right of Lindos, it looks beautiful.
don't forget, no trip to Rhodes is complete without a walk around Mandraki Habour with the windmills and colossus followed by a visit to the Kights of St John in the Old Town.
the harbour looks very pretty at night with all the posh boats moored, so does the old town. You really should visit at least once in the day
and once at night.

But outside of 1 or 2 resorts on each of those islands, they're certainly not party places.
Top Tip:- Get some Mozzie plugsfor the house. Work wonders
I had some but never plugged em in on the last couple of nights, on the last night I actually left the windows open when I went to bed, thats when I got bitten I'm like a woman possessed with the mozzie stuff now

You could have gone to a resort on either island that was miles away from the party resorts. Instead you're going somewhere that is a couple of miles from Faliraki.
I had no idea Faliraki was on that island. I'm pretty wised up on locations and what not but i had it in my head that it was in Zante. I just didn't click. I went into First Choice with my brother and told then we would like to go to Greece, spend 7 nights and spend around the £600-700 mark. The lady who was very helpful and told us of 4 resorts. We went away and picked, we put down the desposit and then i looked up the island on Google and thats when i saw Faliraki was pretty nearby.

No, but where I plan to holiday in Turkey some day, there are ferries going to and from Rhodes Island and I would as part of the holiday on one of the days visit Rhodes Island!
I know, i'm looking at it now on the map lol. Well as said before i like parties yes but i am not one of these girls who just get completely mashed...it looks really unappealing!!

Not my idea of fun either. I prefer the quieter resorts or at least the ones that don't have the reputation that Faliraki has.

I can recommend two places in that case. You have to book them online, they aren't places that you find in Thomas Cook etc, ie. Where the Faliraki crowd book their hols.
So im going away to Greece for the first time, however i feel i have booked the holiday during the wrong month, i go the 4th May. I dont know wherever the weather will be warm. I likeheat but didn't wanna spend nearly double for going in July or August. I wish i had booked it for June, or alot later in May. Have any of you been to Rhodes at that time of year??? Do you think the weather would be warm?? I've been to many places but have always gone June or September, so i hope i picked an ok time.
Yes, Holidayed there a few times in the early 00's, Enjoyed it, Bit of advice, If you get a taxi anywhere, Don't be too surprised if the driver stops and picks another Fare while you are still in the car, It happens quite a lot

I adore hot weather, heatwaves are welcome for me. But when travelling i guess sometimes the heat can hurt especially if your exploring.

very nice I bet you have a fab time
Lindos was a lovely place. It was really hot when I went there and that was late September.
I haven't been to Greece since 2010, anyone know how have things changed in the tourist resorts due to the poor economic situation?

Not only on the island but about 2 miles away.

And Parga, on the mainland. Everyone goes for the Islands, but there are some spectacular places on the mainland..

Crete in June for a fortnight first though
Been in July 2006 & then last September.
It was soooo hot in September. I went to Pefkos both times and it's just such a stunning place.
*sighs*
