Home and Away 2004, how good was it?
After watching reruns each weeknight of 2003 and now 2004
episodes of Home and Away, anyone remember how great it was back then?
I've just reached the episodes were Barry Hyde has become the new headmaster who remembers how much the kids hated him and the protest organised by Jade and Seb?, then there was storylines like Brodie returning and taking Alex from Hayley, then we also had Kirsty and Kane's wedding and kirsty's pregnant lie, anyone remember these storylines and what did you think of them?

Never found Kirsty and Kane realistic, the guy attacked her sister.
Your joking right?
Home and Away was at its best in the 90s!!!
I wish the soaps over here would do something like that too. But the problem is complainers.
That said, 2002-3 was definitely top form stuff; Alf's brain tumour/delusions, Angie Russell (one of soap's best villains), the first time Kirsty and Kane got together, the boat disaster, Leah being a surrogate for Sally and Flynn, some really good stories.
Sarah Lewis, Noah, original Hayley, Ric, Matilda, Beth, the Sutherlands - everyone had left by then. We did have Belle (but I really hated how no one found out that she caused Flynn's initial fall which made him a bit worse off), Nicole, Roman, Martha....but it just felt too different. I think that is also when Home and Away started changing to its more filmic look, but it just felt there were far too many changes happening. And also the storylines just got weaker and weaker and I think 2007 was the entrance of gangs and crimes (Started with Johnny cooper and his lot, then had Roman's criminal friend (Gardy??), and now the Braxtons....6 years of gangs/crimes with unlikeable characters is a bit too much! Just hope that once the Braxtons are gone, the focus changes; also now the 3 day rule makes it worse and they can no longer do disasters as they used to! (the last hurricane was just rubbish - they need to look at the 2006 helicopter crash and the 2002 tidal wave (sunset beach copy but still good to watch!) and the sarah lewis saga to look at quality disasters! Penn Graham was a waste of an year, the Hugo storyline was another waste of an year. Never liked Annie or Geoff or Jai as I thought they were all pretty weak actors.....I think 2012 has been a bit better, but a long way to go to get on par with pre-2007.
But I think its just that the basic accidents these days happen like in every episode these days in my view....which is too frequent i feel...though yeah although there were more "odd" disasters those days, they still felt more gripping and the characters seemed to develop more after they happened and led to more stories....nowadays it just rotates, especially with the Braxtons - one week its oh I will try and change, the next week they are involved in a crime and it just rotates round in circles....i dunno...
Sally's back soon, that's when I'm gonna start watching it again
Not for long, though.
