Even when I've seen others (Kyran, Suzanne, Sam) do things that Ray hasn't done/can't do, it hasn't mattered because what Ray's done is so much smoother, better performed and better put together than anything the aforementioned have produced this series that it's irrelevant.
As for anything that Beth or (hahahaha) Hayley has produced - erm... well - I really don't know what they're looking at.
I have no issue with those who admit Ray is best (overall) but prefer someone else (even if I don't understand why they do ;-)). I am totally baffled by those who think either Hayley are Beth are best overall. Usually I'd let opinion reign. However, here, opinion is completely wrong.
Yes, Ray's ability to interpret the music and his performance skills are in another league to anyone else's. You can see why he was such a good dancer as a child. People can be critical of the panel but Jane and Chris's credentials are beyond question, so when they say he could easily have been a pro had he chosen such a path, I rest my case.

I agree. When someone says that they're just moved by Hayley or Beths performance more, or just like it better, as baffled as I am by that, I can't argue with it. But when people say things like 'Hayley has the better package overall' I'm just dumfounded. For me, Ray beats Hayley in performance...he puts his entire soul into it, its not a performance that so obviously looks like its been learned at stage school, but looks innate and natural. He is head and shoulders above them both when it comes to the 'dancing' on ice part. And in terms of skating ability (which surely has to be included if you're talking about the 'whole package'?)....people actually believe Hayley skates better? Its mindblowing to me!
I agree with you too about Rays performance and for me, its so close to perfection that it is difficult for him to improve. Yes, you could add in even more technical lifts...I'm sure he'd cope with them as hes mastered fantastic lifts already and has the work ethic and confidence to learn anything, but I just feel that any more lifts would detract from the beauty and fluidity of his performance, the dancing on ice part, which is what is so beautiful to watch. Having watched a few of the clips from the tour, I think the one area where he can improve is on the bigger ice rink. Jane Torville mentioned that so many celebs struggled with it, while others thrived on it. Ray has got great speed on it, which just makes his performance even better....which is why I'm so excited that I'm going to see it live:D

And when they say that they can just choreograph for Ray and Maria without having to tailor it to their strengths (no doubt meaning technical/gymnast moves for Beth to distract from her performance skills, and lots of lifts and poses for Hayley to distract from her skating) that says a lot too.
Because Maria was skating with Gary Lucy who was runner up that year so Ray had to change partners and dance with Alex.
Thanks Amy.
I suppose it was only fair to Gary, but I somehow felt a 'winner' would be given precedence over a mere runner-up (who I never liked much anyway :D) so it seemed a strange decision to me.
I have said it before and will say it again - it will be a travesty if Ray doesn't win as he is the best skater and dancer and rarely puts a foot wrong. What time is the final on tomorrow? I have to go out at 7.30 but hoping the lines will be open so I can vote for Ray before I leave.
Thanks for those, the one thing I noticed with the routines with Alex was that he was doing moves he has never done with Maria. He did a couple of throw lifts and a big table top 'Dirty Dancing' lift.
He has been accused of not being able to do big lifts, I think it maybe he can't do them with Maria - Alex might be smaller and slighter than Maria. Ray isn't as tall as Kyran or Sam so even a small height/build difference in his partner could limit what lifts he can do with Maria.

Wonder if it's the flamenco routine from this series, or their 'Bailamos' routine from their original series, or a mix of both?
Both fab xx
In the ITV clip just posted on the website Ray says it is their Flamenco from this series.
BiB; I ticked the box marked "agree strongly".
