All right, it's finally here. Again, I'm sorry for the delay, I just had other things that needed my attention before I could focus on this. Anyway, welcome back to The X Factor: Mix It Up! Both the audition phase and the bootcamp phase of the competition are over, so it's finally time for the longest but probably most exciting part of the competition - the live shows!
Last show, the mentors chose songs for the 5 acts in their respective categories in order to see how their ideas would be received. After being given a substantial amount of time to think, they were each forced to let 2 acts go. There were definitely some surprising picks by the judges, so we'll have to wait and see what the follow-up of those choices is going to be.
Tonight, the top 12 will be performing songs with titles that consist of a single word. An easy theme to start with, and probably the only easy theme in the entire competition. Anyway, the lines will open once all twelve acts have performed. During this phase of the show, the DS public (and the judges themselves) will be able to vote for their favourite acts in a bid to keep them out of that dreaded danger zone. Speaking of which, we're looking at a bottom 3 today as we're kicking things off with a double elimination. What that means is that one act will be eliminated right off the bat, while the other two will have to sing for survival and face the wrath of the judges.
Without further ado, allow me to introduce the flawless judges and the top 12 of The X Factor: Mix It Up!

You totally should, entertainment value you know?
yeah you know just me uploading a video of me dancing to the theme music each week... the worst bit is this sounds like something I would do
Kicking off the first live show is one of Jack's groups. The group I'm talking about could be described as his odd pick, as they didn't really get the most stellar of comments last show. Can they turn things around this time? Ladies and gentlemen, it's Black Ivory singing Alive by Krewella!

So, tell me what you're waiting for?
I'm gonna keep it frozen here forever,
There's no regretting anymore.
Stephanie: It's worth the wait, even so far away.
Patina: I'm making the night mine until the day I die
Stephanie: No lights to brake when you're hanging by fate
Patina: You know what it feels like when you're dancing blind
All: All alone, just the beat inside my soul
Take me home, where my dreams are made of gold
In the zone where the beat is un-controlled.
I know what it feels like
Come on make me feel alive
Feel alive, feel alive
Feel alive, feel alive
Feel alive, feel alive alive alive alive
Alive!
Veronica: Meet me under shining lights,
I've been waiting right here all my life
Feelings you can't deny that you're living, open up your eyes
Veronica & Vanessa: And I just wanna sink into your crazy laughter
Come on make me feel until the pain don't matter
Every second here makes my heart beat faster
Finally think I found what I'm chasing after.
All: All alone, just the beat inside my soul
Take me home, where my dreams are made of gold
In the zone where the beat is un-controlled.
I know what it feels like
Come on make me feel alive
Feel alive, feel alive
Feel alive, feel alive
Feel alive, feel alive alive alive alive
Alive!
All: All alone, just the beat inside my soul
Take me home, where my dreams are made of gold
In the zone where the beat is un-controlled.
I know what it feels like
Come on make me feel alive
Feel alive, feel alive
Feel alive, feel alive
Feel alive, feel alive alive alive alive
Alive!
I know what it feels like
Come on make me feel alive
Feel alive, feel alive
Feel alive, feel alive
Feel alive, feel alive alive alive alive
Alive! Feel alive!
Well you’re the ones that everyone didn’t really expect to see tonight so I knew we’d have to make sure your song was amazing this week so that you could immediately make an impression upon not only the judges but the viewing public and by lord did you girls do that. It’s the first live show and you kicked it off with a big bang that just made everything big energetic and basically Alive. At the start your vocals were allowed to shine and then when the beat kicked in you really showed off your performance skills and were just amazing and it was a fantastic performance girls! This is exactly the direction I wanted to take you in and is what I hope we’ll be able to do throughout the show! Amazing girls!
This was an absolutely fine performance for the first live show. While this song may have been a little expected, there is no denying it was a great fit for you. I am going to worry that this performance is not going to stand out tonight as it was great, but not entirely spectacular. However, I think you girls are going to do just fine in this competition. Great start.
Girls, this was a great start to the show. I think that you got a really solid song choice from Jack, and while it wasn't earth shattering, it showed your harmonies and a direction to take you down. I do worry a bit about this being perceived as safe, but, for the first show, I wasn't expecting anything to be death-defying. So, a great start to the lives, ladies!
Up next, we have another act that could be seen as a strange pick. He got pretty mediocre comments last show, but his mentor Zak chose him anyway for diversity's sake. Will he get better comments this time? Please give it up for Joseph Whelan singing Grace by Jonas Myrin.

First off I adore Jonas Myrin and second off I wasn’t a big fan of this Joseph. I get what Zak was trying to do with the whole stripped back song so your vocals came through more and you wouldn’t be called just a rock singer but the problem I had was the fact there was no real edge in the vocals that you have in your voice. Tonal wise I was surprised at it being a good fit but the edge you have is what makes you so unique compared to the other male contestants not this kind of smooth vocalist in the song. That being said Zak chose a great song last week so I think he knows what he’s doing with you. Overall it a decent performance but not the best.
Well, there goes everything I had thought about you being monochromatic vocally! You got a really smart song choice this week from Zak - it showed your emotion without being overly rock-driven, while still managing to retain a bit of grit in your voice. I liked this choice a lot, and I am happy to see you excelling on show 1.
Hey Joseph! I thought this week I would try something just a little different. I find with mentoring you that if I’m going to do a rock song then it has to be absolutely perfect, however if I go down a little different route some of the pressure is relieved. I feel this acoustic route (with the main singer having a rather strong voice) then we are going to do absolutely fine. I have many surprises set in store for Joseph, hence taking him through to the live shows. I thought the vocals were incredible and overall it was an amazing performance. Well done, Joseph.
It's time for Kevin and his prized girls to shine. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Morgan Sheather to the stage where she will perform Mamma by Hollie Smith!

I have a feeling this song is not going to go down well with the other judges, however I must say that I absolutely loved it. I was very worried at the beginning but the song certainly improved. I thought the vocals were great and the song was suited perfectly to the slight-abnormal tone that Morgan has. The song itself could have been better probably, but it was a great song choice regardless. Well done.
This was another pretty good song choice tonight, Morgan! My one main criticism is that this song was a bit too Joss Stone for my liking on your voice. I think that you need more of a current sound and less of an old-school throwback vibe, but this was by no stretch a bad vocal. Think back to what do you did right in Bootcamp, as I worry that Kevin might try and fit you too much into a soul-diva mold. As the song went on, it got too grating and lost a bit of rhythm, and I am starting to get less enthusiastic as time goes on. Nevertheless, it wasn't a bad vocal, but I want you to keep in mind what made you special in the first place.
Last week you gave a great performance but this week I don’t know what happened? This song just didn’t seem right for you as the vocals are a bit soulful for you and although this whole funk vibe is quite nice I just don’t think this song was very well suited for you. It sounds to me better suited to someone like Brenda Edwards than it does for you because of all of the soul within the song. Amanda Fondell last week was a great song for you but this week it was just not right for you and if you’re saved this week I beg you Kev to not choose a song like this again.
The next act is definitely our most unusual contestant. While we have witnessed rap acts participate in these games before, it's still something you don't see everyday. Will Nick Youngerman be able to impress you with Loud by Mac Miller ft. Benny Banks?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmZCFakA8LQ
I am very worried about having Nick in the competition as I’m starting to question whether I will ever enjoy him during this competition. Sadly, I did not enjoy this song choice for Nick; I just feel like it isn’t Nick’s style at all – yes, it’s rap but not quite Nick. I think it should be a little more sultry – something a long the lines of Mike Posner. This was a fine song choice and surely won’t be at the bottom of my vote, but I’m worried that I won’t be able to say the same thing later in the competition.
Nick, you smashed it up on that stage! I hope this is what Zak was looking for in terms of a more sultry rap - I wanted to give you something you could sink your teeth into, but also something that really showed off a bit of edge and grit. I think Loud was a party starter, and a nice way to distinguish yourself artistically from the pack. All in all, this was an A+ performance for me! Great job.
Mac Miller and you are a good fit Nick as not only is your rapping style very similar but your voices as well which not many people usually do with rapper in these competition as we usually get just rappers which just rap but have no vocal or style reminiscence at all whilst your mentor actually seems to be doing that. When Benny Banks came in it went downhill a bit but overall the song was pretty well suited to you and was quite a good choice overall and I reckon right now you could be the underdog in this competition and we all know how the public loves underdogs.
Again, we see comments that aren't really negative but not really enthusiastic either (except Justin's of course). Will this turn out in a good or a bad way for Nick?
Back to Jack and the groups. This group got amazing comments last show and hope to impress yet again. It's Good Question performing Wonderland by Natalia Kills!

Note from Jack: Kristina (the rapper) is also able to sing quite well (from the youtube videos) so in this one trying to imagine her doing more sing styled rapping like in the song.
but I'm lost inside this forest.
I'm not Red Riding Hood,
Kristina: But i think the wolves have got me.
Don't want the stilettos
I'm not, not Cinderella
I don't need a knight so baby take off all your armor
You be the Beast and I'll be the Beauty, beauty
Who needs true love as long as you love me truly.
I want it all, but I want you more
Will you wake me up boy if I bite your poison apple.
Joelle: I don't believe in fairy tales
I don't believe in fairy tales
I don't believe in fairy tales
but I believe in you and me
Kristina: take me to wonderland
take me to take me to
take me to wonderland
take me to take me to
take me to wonderland
take me to take me to
wonderland, wonderland
Joelle: When I lay my head down to go to sleep at night
My dreams conceive the things
Kristina: that I make you want to hide
Don't lock me in your tower
Show me your magic powers
I'm not afraid to face a little bit of danger, danger
I want the love, the money, and the perfect ending
You want the same as I, I, so stop pretending
I want to show you how good we could be together
I want to love you through the night, we'll be a sweet disaster
Joelle: I don't believe in fairy tales
I don't believe in fairy tales
I don't believe in fairy tales
but I believe in you and me
Kristina: take me to wonderland
take me to take me to
take me to wonderland
take me to take me to
take me to wonderland
take me to take me to
wonderland, wonderland
Joelle: Wonderland, oh
I believe in you and me
I don't believe in fairytales
I don't believe in fairytales
I don't believe in fairytales
But I believe in you and me
Both: take me to wonderland
Take me to , take me to
Take me to wonderland
Take me to , take me to
Take me to wonderland
Take me to, take me to, take me to
Joelle:I believe in you and me, Wonderland
Both: Take me to Take me to Take me to Wonderland
Take me to Take me to Take me to Wonderland
Take me to Take me to Take me to Wonderland
Take me to Wonderland, take me to Wonderland
