They do look a bit like a gay couple in this pic:

I think Morrissey quite likes the fact that people like to speculate on his sexuality, which is why he hasn't officially come out. It keeps people interested in him.

They weren't even living in the same country at that time though so I don't know how they could have been having a 3 year relationship.

Never heard of a long distance relationship? ;)

Huh? Taylor Hackford and Helen Mirren live in different countries and have been married for 13 years and a couple for over 25 years!

Some good points in the second paragraph but really the first has holed your arguement from the off. I've met someone who said they didn't like the Beatles who probably have the most objective claim to being the 'greatest band' because of the sheer range of their material and the large numbers of tunes that people still play, hum and dance to today produced by three songwriters any of which could have supported a half decent band on their own and have all had solo characters of note. - Led Zepelin was a band consisting of four masters of their art and some probably don't like them - and if I was ever to state that everyone loved a band whether they had the guts to admit it or not it would be Abba, none of these are my favourite band that was Nirvana - but some people probably geuninely hate any or all of these bands and such is their right and their taste. Shakespeare was right comparing music to food and music like food is something that everyone has their own unique types that they can't get enough of and they can't bear. I never could get into Interpol as the singer's voice got on my nerves but I would neither dispute their merit or diss the people who loved them.

I liked some The Smiths stuff but to call them undisputed 'the greatest band in the world' is bs - that they are yours is all you say with any credibility.

I thought it was pretty obvious that I was being tongue in cheek. Obviously not.

Doesn't always come across in electronic media sorry - don't worry or possibly I'm not good at getting tongue in cheek in writing and enjoy arguing.

We all love arguing. Especially when it's not face to face

His autobiography is out today and he says he had his first relationship at age 35 with a man.

I've always assumed people who didn't realise Morrissey was gay pretty early on were the same people who didn't twig on to Freddie Mercury either. :D

    Trust me, it's very easy.

Or maybe as time passes Morrissey makes it easier.

Peter Serafinowicz has been reading passages from Morrissey's autobiography:

My sister sent them to me on Facebook. I can't lie, I was amused.

Perhaps he was telling the truth when he claimed to be celibate at the height of The Smiths' success.

I always thought he was gay but rarely in a relationship. Much like Kenneth Williams.

Yes, like Kenneth I've always suspected he sees it all as rather messy and distasteful (any physical relationship be it straight or gay):)

I very much doubt Morrissey was a virgin until he was 35.
Still I'm surprised he's been honest in his book. I thought he'd go to the grave refusing to come out.

I was too stunned to be amused - when did Peter Serafinowicz get so old looking??:(

I always imagine him looking like he did in Shaun of the Dead!

I am not surprised after his offensive comments trying to suggest if more people were gay there would be less war!

Gay or bisexual, he is a prize tit.

Yeah, I've never agreed with that. If the straight men in Government were replaced with gay men, they would probably end up just as power crazed and war happy - same with women. Power corrupts. Gender and sexual preference don't neutralise that.

According to his autobiography he's bisexual. Anyone who had listened to his lyrics would have worked that out already.
Excellent read. He admits to his first relation at 35 to be with a man, it lasts for two years. He then meets a beautiful woman who he is still with and whom is mentioned in the acknowledgments.
