Does anyone think tonight will see a PROPER "snow boost" then? Mostly seems to be in the South East today but I imagine that represents a pretty big portion of TV viewers?

Wonder if Dancing on Ice will see a step-up what with it being winter connected and all that :D

I'd expect most things to rise a bit tonight, and if DOI doesn't there's a problem (skate-off excluded)

BBC1 couldn't have hoped for a better week to launch CTM ahead of the return of TG next Sunday.

I suppose the snooker final could have a denting effect with some of the core demographic, but I'm starting to think 10m is possible. Or am I getting carried away?

    BBC1 morning had a boost: Breakfast 1.72m (up 27%); Saturday Kitchen 2.80m (up 25%); Good Cook 2.3m (up 18%); Football Focus 2.12m (up 36%)

Maybe Saturday Kitchen will replace Hammond next week.;)
I wish SOMETHING would replace Richard Hammond next week.

Splash may well be ahead of in it to win it if +1 figures are included.

According to Jenny Cummings. Splash averaged 5.4m. Looks like she is using the +1 figure, would make it level with In It to Win It.
And In It To Win It would have nosed back in front if you included BBC1+1, if it existed.

It doesn't, so you can only compare like with like -so excluding +1.

    This really isn't rocket science!
Splash is 5.36m rounded up to 5.4m, In It To Win It had 5.43m so still ahead...but these are overnights NOT offiicials.

Don't most people stay in on a Sunday night come rain or shine, therefore a boost due to snow may not occur, compared to other days of the week.

It's not compulsory to watch it you know. :p

No, I think it's possible. Just. It's fresh in the mind after Christmas as well. It'll surely be in the 9s at least.

ITV want it to stay as it means 4.28m are watching You've Been Framed and it's doing wonders for the competition. Pass that message onto the BBC Light Entertainment Department. :p They commissioned this crap, it is crap and its ratings are crap.

And thank God it's not compulsory! :D I was watching the documentary on BBC2.

This is true but it nonetheless limits people doing other things and making it more likely the TV will be put on. Especially, as unlike yesterday, there's a wealth of popular shows to grab people.

I suppose Mondays are always going to be the ones that see the biggest boost with snow as many will be indoors and settled having not gone to work or come home early. Think the worst of the snow will have passed by then though...maybe. Either way I'd still expect a boost then as well.

Well, if they were, the official figure for The Dumping Ground would have been a lot higher.

I guess it's easier to dip in and out of a LE show whereas if you dip in and out of a scripted drama you could lose the thread of the story and annoy all your fellow viewers with your constant "who's she again?" "why did he say that?" "help me! I don't know whst's happening".:D

Brightest's breakdowns confiring what we said last week - that Secret Service is dragging it down.
    "Dear Richard Hammond
Can your Secret Service team help us out by providing a crap lead-in for Britain's Brightest so that we can beat it in the ratings.
Yours gratefully, the Producers of Splash."

Brightest possibly doing enough for a recommission. Give it a bit of a revamp and a better lead-in and it could win a head-to-head clash with Splash where the novelty might be wearing off by next year.

Yes a revamp and a better lead in may see it get 5m a week.

are BBC1 playing a canny game with Splash?

make it a moderate default viewing success, then when ITV give it a ten part run next year, 90 mins plus 30 mins dive off, slaughter it with something decent?

    :)

    These shows are terrible
Stuart Hertiage has commented in the guardian that he cannot remember worse fodder being churned out on Saturday evenings

The BBC should rethink and plan much better for the whole of its year. They need a new head of light entertainment someone with a proven track record or a dynamic new spark to inject life into the genre.
I think they should end pospone casualty and stick a new drama in there like a death in paradise or the paradise. Something of substance at 8pm if they cannot find light entertainment. The schedulers are thick.

Why is britian so bad making saturday night tv plus these producers amd heads of departments get alot of money to do their job every year. The BBC need to show us how they spend that money we provide them.

Animal Antics (2.71m/12.9%), having won its slot last Saturday, shed 50k and two share points week-on-week and tied in second last night with the first half of BBC Two's 1963 winter doc (2.71m), the winner being ITV's news (2.89m) in a tight battle.

By the way, Dancc, if you didn't manage to watch the weather doc last night, it is available on iPlayer for a week. Great value for BBC Two to repeat a 50-year-old doc (with a couple of extra bits from Chris Packham) and collect 3.00m/13.9% at 17:30! (I did suggest it might beat BBC One.) It was second only to ITV (3.22m) across its whole slot.

Richard Hammond's Secret Service (2.14m/9.5%) was fractionally up from last week but down more than a share point due to higher viewing of all TV. It was again beaten nearly 2:1 by You've Been Framed and was less than 500k ahead of Celebrity Come Down With Me Ireland on Channel 4. The stack of five episodes of that import didn't do as well as last week's non-celebrity editions ( I didn't recognise any of the Irish celebrities.)

Britain's Brightest (4.59m/19.3%) rose more than 500k and one share point on last week: I can see this returning as it's probably quite cheap to produce, is a solid performer and I feel it could do even better with a decent lead-in. During its slot it was less than 500k behind ITV.

Mark Linsey is the controller of entertainment and I'm not really sure what he has commissioned under his run that he would be best known for. I guess The Voice would be one.

I think a change in The Entertainment Commissioner would be needed, as some of the stuff commissioned in recent years haven't been good, ratings and critically.

Imagine what ratings the Voice and Doctor Who would be getting now.

I do think that Pointless would provide a much better lead in for Britain's brightest. (probably least controversial comment on here ever. )
