Gmail account name

At some point my gmail account has been associated with a random name (I guess I just made something up when I was trying to do something in a hurry). Is there anyway to change or delete this? It is the name that a recipient sees when I send them an email.

In the Gmail settings select the 'Accounts' tab. Where it says "Send Email As" click on 'edit info' next to your email address.
