So... Carroll and Doni were good. Doni kept the score to just 1 and Carroll, if he had some more support, would certainly have created a goal or two today.
I know it was a 2nd string team mostly, but we just weren't very good. Just want this season over with so we can do a little business in the summer and have a fresh crack at things.
I'm wondering if part of the problem is the genuine acceptance of mediocrity in our squad. When our true top class performers are missing as Gerrard and Suarez have been for periods this season , then those that step in rarely step up. This then creates so much chopping and changing that we rarely get consistent selections. Due to both KD panicking with selections game by game and the lack of consistent form shown by so many:(

I do think fans seem to accept mediocrity in our squad. It is time for a reality check.
- New manager (preferably Rafa)
- Mahoosive clearout
- scrap the buy only young, British players policy
- Bring back Aquilani and Cole, as it's clear we lack creativity in midfield
- Give the youth player we already have, a chance in the first team
- Buy a clinical finisher
- Buy a couple of wingers
- Buy a backup defensive midfielder in case Lucas gets injured again.
Sterling wasn't even that great though. He had a one run where he went down too easy and a decent cross.
Doni, Carroll, Aurelio, Kuyt and Maxi were good.
Skrtel and Spearing were shite, Shelvey played well in the first half, crap in the 2nd.
So in 15 minutes he did more than most
Tbh I forgot Maxi was playing most of the time, Aurelio did nothing to justify us keeping him , Kuyt at least has a history of turning up for big games but showed nothing tonight.
Shelvey to be fair was trying but nothing really came off for him - the injury time freekick summed up his performance
McaTeer on LFC TV saying questions should be asked of KD.
That's unusual for anyone within a club based media operation.
His right? My real worry is how the league form since January has been so bad and it can easily carry on into a new season.
I really wouldn't be surprised if dalglish went. Cups are nice but the league form has to be scrutinised and its been shockingly bad. 5 home wins is just disgraceful.
- New manager (preferably Rafa) (disagree with a new manager personally - And as much as I liked Rafa he's not the answer)
- Mahoosive clearout (It needs to be balanced though - any players we get rid of need to be replaced and we don't really want to bed in 10 players at once)
- scrap the buy only young, British players policy (Yeh, not sure if we actually have this policy in place (Suarez, Enrique, Doni being among the signings that don't fit) but I agree with the sentiment)
- Bring back Aquilani and Cole, as it's clear we lack creativity in midfield (Neither really shone when they were here (as much as I do like both) and I don't believe they're the answer)
- Give the youth player we already have, a chance in the first team (Yeh, something we did do at the end of last season, I'd like to see a couple of them played more in the cups at least)
- Buy a clinical finisher (yup)
- Buy a couple of wingers (Yup - one at the very least)
- Buy a backup defensive midfielder in case Lucas gets injured again. (If we can find one happy to be a squad player then let's get him.)
KD has apologised for his own selection and that display in the post match interview. Honest enough to mention that he didn't expect it to be quite so bad when they'd taken to the the field.
If we lose on Saturday, does anyone think there will be another crisis meeting on Monday.
Nothing at all should be done until the season ends. I personally would give Kenny another season, but even if you're going to make a change I wouldn't do anything until the season ends.

Not sure if we'll have the money for four signings of a decent calibre in those positions. We'll almost certainly be held to ransom again if targets are from clubs in this country. We'd have to gamble on cheaper foreigners. Could we really afford to wait another two to three years for a Lucas type improvement of new players.
I'm not going to complain about team selection as I mentioned that I would have played the same team, but it does show how poor our squad depth is
Our midfield in particular is poor and yet if we want to get the best out of Gerrard on Saturday.. two of Henderson, Shelvey or Spearing will have to start
The substitutions were odd. Aurelio was playing well.. Why take him off and bring on Enrique, who added nothing ? I would have brought Sterling on at half time instead of Downing
Cannot wait until this season is over and let's hope for some big changes in the Summer

If what Comolli said is true, we won't have any money at all and will be relying on selling to buy.

I doubt that
People have said "Liverpool only have £20m to spend", but if a target is available I'm sure the owners would be willing to spend a little extra if it improves the team
They'll be cautious after the millions spent last Summer, but there'll just be more focus on moneyball rather than "No we're not buying that player. We have no money"
Went out at about 8 but knew we'd already conceded and got in at about 10 - devastated to see that the score was still 0-1 and have read about the match in a couple of places - sounds an absolute nightmare.
I have no clear thinking on what to do - I have always said give Kenny next season and I prob still think that but there are issues aren't there!!
Last summer was the big clear out of the dross, this summer was the one for tweaking to get us to be good enough to compete at the top end but there are so many who simply do not look up to ever being good enough to play in a successful LFC team. They have truly let down Kenny the man who has 100% stood by them and it's painful to have to listen to him try to justify that lot. It therefore looks as if this summer we need another clear out.
The thing is that Kenny is a proud man who loves the club and it would break his heart to walk away 18 months after starting again with the club little further on. His dream was to put us back where we belong and we trusted him to do that - it was exciting. And if he went now who would you get? - the LFC manager job is prob not very attractive these days - massive fan expectation without the raw material in terms of quality players to be able to achieve it. Would he be prepared to say at the end of the season - for the good of the club I will move aside - thing is would it be for the good of the club to do so cos a replacement would have to be lined up, we cannot 'do a Wolves'.
Overall I think it;s best for him to stay but after a result like this it is prob hard to say that - the worst thing for me about Kenny is the way by his public pronouncements he seems to think these players are good enough for LFC - he must know that many of them are not up to it now surely.
All I can say is its a good job we have Luis Suarez - and you never know we may win on Saturday - to lose to CFC in a cup final is not something I want to consider but all logic says that is what is going to happen - I'm just glad football sometimes isn't logical.
watching Kenny on LFC TV you could see just how let down he was by the performance.
He must know these players are not good enough!
He chose the team and the tactics.
A former player said on twitter that the players in the team today knew they wouldn't be playing on Saturday, so didn't see the point in today, which is the wrong attitude, but goes to show how much this game meant to Kenny as well.
Morale is low, the players can't be bothered and the manager has given up.

Sorry I am rambling - will stop.
I would have thought Suarez would be seriously considering his position.

I wish we still had the spice boys playing for us, even in their 30's they would be better than our current team as Danny Murphy proved tonight.

we clearly don't have good enough players.

My thoughts in bold.
Fowler and maybe Mcmanaman would walk into the team but I don't think the rest would.

Nothing to be gained by rushing anything.
even if we win come summer Kenny will have some answering to do. FSG are not gonna ignore this terrible league campaign.
I would take Redknapp over are current CM players any day of the week. He was a damn good player!

Nobody needs to hear this. If you've nothing nice to say, can you just (for once) say nothing at all?
