Old theme tunes replaced by completely new tunes

Whenever producers change the theme tune of a show it is nearly always a remix of the old one

But can anyone think of shows where a theme has been replaced by a brand new score

For example in. 1992 Surprise Surprise scrapped it's famous Unexpected Hits You Between The Eyes theme and replaced it with a brand new theme which went

"life is full, full of surprises"

They are both great themes but I much preferred the later theme

Magnum P.I. changed theme tune a season or two into it's run.

    The original tune

    The second tune

The Bill- the 2009 theme tune was as dreadful as the rest of the revamp.

Both of those fall into the remix/re-recording category.

House, from the second series it had a different tune but it was very similar to the first.

What is worse, is when they use the same tune but "up-date it."

Maggie Bell's "No Mean City" which introduces Taggart, has been changed twice and has been poorer each time.

That's what I thought of when I read the thread title.

The theme from series 3 onward is a classic!

Power Rangers, each time they revamp the show they have a new theme tune. I think they have been getting progressively worse, and in the beginning they were only so bad they were good.

Red Dwarf was a remix of the original I thought, not a different tune (after S2).
I only know of the "Happy Days" theme for Happy Days (just the one).

The Red Dwarf opening theme from Series 3 onwards was an instrumental version of the "It's cold outside..." song used on the end credits throughout the series. Series 1 and 2 used a much slower instrumental piece for the opening which only used elements of the ."It's cold outside..." song.

Early episodes of Happy Days used Bill Hayley's Rock Around the Clock as the opening theme.

Gene Roddenberry's 'Andromeda' series changed it's original 'electric guitar' theme to a more generic orchestrated sound.
You really have to hear them both to appreciate the difference!

The Blue Peter theme tune Barnacle Bill has had different versions / arrangements over the years (one by Mike Oldfield) before being replaced by the very similar Sailors Hornpipe.

'Quantum Leap' changed it's smashing theme tune to a terrible synth-rock version for it's last season. They had the good sense to bring back the original for it's last ever ep.

    Baywatch:

The original Baywatch theme was "Save Me" by Peter Cetera.

For seasons 2-10, it was replaced by "I'm Always Here" by Jimi Jamison.

The main theme of season 11 is "Let Me Be the One" by Fiji & Glenn Medeiros.

For the DVD release of season 1, the original theme was replaced by "Strong Enough" by Evan Olson. However, the UK release features "Above the Waterline" by Kim Carnes instead, and the German release features the original theme by Peter Cetera.

The Magnum change was a good one though, certainly better than the original.

House has a different title theme for international versions.
    US version.
    International version.

The US version is Teardrop by Massive Attack. The international version is actually the US version's ending-credits music.

I thought The Saint tunes were very similar .
The B&W episodes version was jazzed up for the early colour ones but the later colour ones had the different theme but still seemed similar

The QL revamp was the same tune just a different version.

Tomorrows World changed its theme at least 3 times

I bet nobody here has ever heard the original theme tune used for the black & white editions of The Flinstones. It's nothing like the one everybody knows.

I have. Cartoon Network used to show it all the time.
