Looking forward to going to see MUSE in june, but have now seen Dizzee Rascal is the support act (will have to wait til he has finished before i go in ) I wondered if anyone else has been to gigs where the support act seemed an odd choice?

Had to look that one up, was a bit suprised is wasnt a gorgeous woman called Chelle tbh, would expect there crowd to be slightly older than cher lloyds
Very strange setup.
And I think Pet Shop Boys were too good to be a support act for Take That. I remember loads of Take That fans slagging them off when they were announced
That's not that far off. I can see Cher Lloyd fans being fans of HCR. I don't really see it the other way around though.
And speaking of Dizzee Rascal, he actually supported the Red Hot Chili Peppers last year!
I thought they were too big as well. Love the Pet Shop Boys tho so I really enjoyed their set.
Does anyone think that The Verve were too big to support Oasis back in the late nineties?
U2 are too big for anyone:cool:
Foo Fighters supporting Prodigy was a strange one also.
When I saw the RHCP in Hyde Park years ago, their support act was some random australian (I think) group called chicks on speed who were booed and bottled off the stage and the next thing you know James Brown was on the stage doing his thing it was certainly a wow moment, as I had no idea beforehand who was supporting. That was a brilliant concert.
The Manics and The Levs would have been awesome.
Back in 1998, a little band called Snow Patrol supported the Levellers.
I remember Funeral for a Friend supporting Iron Maiden in 2003 and thinking that didn't work.
Roots Manuva supporting Rage Against The Machine in 2010 as well.
Paramore were excellent though
Nice that you gave them so long
So was Florence and the Machine
TBH, the PSBs have been pretty dire for the last 8 years in terms of producing any new material of a standard that their long term fans want to listen to. Tennant and Lowe are savvy enough to know the only money for them is in playing their old back catalogue to a live audience, many of whom are fast approaching their 60s. So while they are of course far too good to be playing as a support act, the old maxim that good business is where you find it still applies.
