So i hear all this speculation and rumors about the Blackberry Messenger arriving on Apple's IOS and Google's Android.
However as someone who has a Blackberry and has the advantage of using Blackberry Messenger, In the long run, us Blackberry users have to pay a set fee every month just to get these services.
But i hear the IOS and Android will be allowed to have the application for free? Now i feel ripped off the fact i'm using an Official Blackberry to get my services and have to pay on top of that to receive these services whereas Android users will be allowed to have it free  Thanks RIM... Thanks, what a way to treat your customers. They are still gonna charge for the BBM services on their phones too even when the other platforms get this app!

We'll see what will happen, though if BBM is to compete with the imessages, Google Hangouts and Whatsapps, then a paid subscription is unlikely. I'd have thought that the app launch would be combined with a relaunch across the service, with different (or removed) pricing. But that's also [6th word] on my part
True but honestly I doubt they care to much now they are literally on the verge of bankruptcy and trying to sell pieces of a sinking ship as fast as possible.

It could have been glorious - Nokia WP focused on consumer features, BB WP focused on enterprise. Instead of the two scrabbling for third place, they would have had a consolidated market share confidently above 10% which would have pulled in the brand-name app developers and they could have ended up with a 20-25% market share at this stage.
Where Elop had the courage to burn the house down quickly to have space to create the foundations for something new, Heinz did not and stuck to his guns. Heins' BB10 plan needed an iPhone 2007 type moment to have succeeded and that was very unlikely to happen.
Agreed.
bbm will be free on ios and android because rim need the advertising. otherwise rim is dead.
i give rim 1 year to die.... it will be bought by somebody else. all bb are crap, the os is crap, and the concept is dead.
Whats App being truly cross platform is definitely a selling point.
As for BB being crap. Nope. You may not like it, but as a communications device - calling, emailing - BB is still a better device than anything running Android or iOS.
Seems to be a few inaccuracies in this thread , more research needed before posting.
I was thinking the same, RIM hasn't existed since January and has been called Blackberry Ltd since then... However I do somewhat agree with what others are saying regarding its demise, they seriously need a miracle to happen and I am not sure becoming a cross platform service provider is the answer to its problems, people on android and iOS are settled using other messaging services, they are too late to the game.
But the iPhone comes in Gold.
Conversation over.
I would say it was more than 2 years ago that something should have changed. Principally with BES and and not licencing Activesync.
I fix PCs for a living for mostly domestic and small/sole trader customers. I have lost count of the amount of times over probably 5 years that I have said "If you want proper business class ultra reliable fully synced email, get an iPhone, get an Android phone, get a Windows phone...but don't get a Blackberry"
I have resold hosted Exchange for years for £5.99. Any customer that had a Blackberry couldn't use it unless they paid Blackberry another £8-£12 for BES.
They just didn't seem to see that although they would have to pay for the licences, they would have sold many many more handsets.
Me, just some bloke from Devon, could see it coming years ago. Why the hell couldn't they??
Un - fecking - believable!!
I agree with this post pretty much. Blackberry haven't moved with the times and it's cost them dearly.
What's funny is i know a couple of Blackberry reps (the guys who promote blackberry via presentations) who are pretty much delusional and think Blackberry are going to be even better with BBX and they assure me sales of their handsets are just fine.

I still think Kik is better than WhatsApp and, since it was created by a former Blackberry employee, might be more familiar to Blackberry users.
While Kik's my favourite i also have LINE installed because it also has a desktop client (unfortunately no Japanese schoolgirls have yet messaged me ).
I doubt i'll bother with BBM when it arrives for Android, free or not. From the leaks i've seen it appears to be a very poor port of their Blackberry app, without even a Holo look.
I can see why you wouldn't need to bother! Line looks brilliant Lol.
Well its 22 mins since it was put on play store. I'll go have a wee nosey.
My family use it and I can't see anything extra that BBM offers these days. I think they missed the opportunity and it's a little late now. Good luck to them, but they're only really relevant for roaming and I wonder how long that will last as they fade away.
I wonder why Apple never used their brand power to get consumers better deals (like BlackBerry roaming etc)?
Don't know here's the quote from the telegraph anyway
