Emmelie de Forest and Gabriel Alares having co-written songs are the ones I think are most likely to be true. I'm not expecting any of the singers to be well known, but I'm optimistic that the standard of songs is going to be much higher than last year.

Emmelie de Forest is true - or her song got to the final 15 at the very least - and I believe Gabriel Alares to be true, and if it's not him it's another middle tier Swedish songwriter whose name I vaguely recognise but have clean forgotten since. Both of those would be co-writes, as the writers camps seemed to bunch up random groups of three and set them to create songs.

Lund and Vangelis submitted a song, but it didn't get to the last stages, and I hear that the Aminata suspicion was a mistaken extrapolation, but I can't confirm that.

Artists I still can't help you with too much. Some of the names in Foxi's list have definitely been tabled in early discussions, but none confirmed, and I've heard mutterings of Laurell Barker too, although I'm not sure they'd pick a Canadian in the current climate.

    Not long now though!

Yes it would seem surprising to invite EmdF to a songwriting camp and then not use a song of hers (she confirmed herself that she was there), so I guess it's pretty likely she'll be in there somewhere.

Mahan Moin confirmed herself on social media as well for that boot camp. Whether her song made it, is another matter, but the BBC would've been daft not to just chuck in all the big name attached songs to the NF given the barely passable efforts of the past.

Given the promotion to BBC Two, the improved venue and some of the big names they've invited it would be quite disappointing if we didn't have something worthy of at least the left hand side of the scoreboard.

Do you think they should have started advertising it on TV by now?

Well Mahan Moin isn't exactly a big name, and the BBC should be choosing the 6 best songs regardless - who's to say that the "big name" submissions were any good?

Love all this sneaky gossip into what lies ahead.

Now, I may have watched too many John Lewis ads which show how someone can change the speed of a song - but how feasible is it for some of the mid-tempo songs known about so far to have a remix with a bumped-up number of BPMs before the January 23 reveal on Radio 2?

Or is everything 'locked-in' style and genre wise now?

That would be nice, but unlikely, I suspect.

True enough. If there was a better song than this (for example) I wouldn't put Mahan's song through instead just because it's her. That said, I actually wouldn't mind Exodus if it had a revamp and a better singer.

I might be putting two and two together and making five, but Emmelie de Forest has posted on her Facebook page that she's had meetings in London today, and there's a little Union Jack beside her message.

Probably just had her song that she wrote finalised, I imagine they still might be making changes to the songs or discussing how to stage it.

Wonder what kind of stage we will get, hopefully its a bit more high tech than last years

I expect we'll hear something from Graham Norton or Ken Bruce within the next week.

Roy if you are out there. When was it decided that it was going to be 50/50 rather than a 100% televote?

Oh no! A jury vote will never work as far as the BBC and Eurovision is concerned unless the public vote is never made… public. If they reveal the jury votes and then just announce the winner then all will probably be well.

I have absolutely no idea. That's come straight out of leftfield. To the best of my awareness it was never mentioned during the selection process. Makes me fear that they have a preferred song...

Roy, are there any sexy acts taking part this year? Can't remember the last time the UK sent a bit of eye candy

I still can't offer you news of any confirmed acts, I'm afraid. They're keeping that well under their hats.

The Hump had the best handshake I've ever received. Even I swooned a bit.

Song For Her was considered. Fact.

It won't happen this year though, I'm afraid.

Only if they'd entered it through OGAE, or it was knocked up in the writer's camps.

It leaked well after the song camp longlist had been distributed, and it wasn't on that. And I'd have been surprised if it would have risked the OGAE lottery. It may have been sent straight to Hugh G, but whether it was seriously considered in the current scheme is another matter.

    Don't worry, no.

(Unless there's been a last minute reshuffle and change of concept)

And of the songs that I suspect make up the final list, there's not a single one suited to the Rhydian. Not sure where that rumour emerged from - although it would be quite funny!
