I am getting a new 4g phone (sim-free) and I want to keep my o2 mobile number and just get a new 4g sim.
I am an o2 Pay and go customer and have been with o2 for several years.
What would be the best way to do this?
Thanks in advance.

O2 are currently upgrading ALL customer SIMs to 4g compatible ones so they'll give you a new, unregistered, SIM card with a code-number rather than a phone number on it.
You then go HERE, follow the steps and it'll transfer your phone number across to the new SIM.
Dunno what it'll cost for a PAYG customer though.
Be interested to here what it costs cos I'm in a similar position myself.
Missus recently had to do it to swap from a 3g SIM to a 4g micro-SIM. She's on a contract, though, so they supplied the new SIM as a freebie with her new phone.
You're not going to benefit from it. Esp at the prices O2 charge.
It will automatically send you a new 4G sim if you don't already have one. Assuming you've registered your account properly, and it's free.
