Mine right now is
LG PK350 50 inch 1080P Plasma
A used Denon AVR-1910 amp but its a lovely sounding amp.
Very musical think I even like it more than my stereo one which is a NAD C370.
The NAD C370 seems quite boring now where as the Denon AVR-1910 I seem to here more detail in any music.
Speakers
NAD C370 uses Wharfedale XARUS5000
And my 7.1 set up is kef carina 2 4 speakers , KEF Cresta Centre Speaker SP3322 which seems decent to me.
The back surrounds are JVC SP-E5 which don't have no bass response but is fine for back surround effects.
Sub is an epos els and a SONY SA-WP890 for a bit extra.
I have had
Sony HT-DDW890
Pioneer VSX 817
TEAC ADG 200
And the AVR-1910 is the best I have heard yet.
I use a Sony RDR-HXD890 for PVR and an 80GB Fat PS3 for Blu Ray.
For downloads I just connect my PC.

There's also a Technics full separates system from the 90s, turntable, tuner, cassette, CD player and speakers. Bought it, in excellent condition, from Ebay for £50. It's been well looked after, sounds fantastic and has had a new turntable belt and stylus fitted and the cassette heads demagnetised and cleaned. I mention it because it the TV is connected to it via the analogue audio outs and it gets used a lot for the music channels.

Onkyo 500 series amp
Eltax floorstanders/centre/sub
Wharfedale Modus surrounds
Silvertstone Grandia GD02MT home built HTPC with bluray

The Eltax speakers could really do with being replaced and I have considered replacing the amp with a newer model from the 700 or 800 series. Just haven't got round to it yet.
Quite fancy upgrading the TV to something 60" plus as well but have yet to find a good enough deal to tempt me on that one as it'd need to be a good panel like a Samsung 8500 or a Panny VT or something.
When we bought ours, there were no TVs in the 8000 series with screens bigger than 55". Other makes were either inferior size wise or quality wise (even my preferred Pana make) so we went for the 60" Samsung plasma.
It's not as bright as the LED sets but picture quality is at least equal and does use more power. One salesman did point out to me that the extra cost of running a plasma over an LED with normal viewing times is about £35 per year. An LED set may have cost £300 to £400 more so poor economics if that is the only reason for buying an LED set. He did not get the sale by the way as he could not offer the Samsung 60" set.
Is 60" that much bigger than a 55"; I really didn't think so, but my missus (yes, the wife, not just me) had her heart set on at least a 60" model and was looking at the 80" Sharp! £4000 for a TV is not juststretching the budget, it's busting it wide open.
- Panasonic PZ80 42" Plasma TV
- Sony STR-DH810 7.1 Amp
Speakers are a mish-mash (need to get a decent set-up one day):- Center, Surround & Back Speakers (taken from a crap LG all in 1 system)
- 2x Pioneer HiFi speakers for Front L/R (from the late 1980s or early 1990s, still sound good, though 1 of them crackles if I pump any bass through it, probably fixable but I use my sub for that anyway, so they're set to "small".)
- Cambridge Audio S90 Subwoofer (Had this replaced under warranty about a month ago, developed a fault after 6 months)
The rest of my stuff:Yamaha RX-V673 receiver
Panasonic DMP-BDT220 3D Blu-ray player
Boston Soundware Acoustics XS SE satellite speakers
BKElec XXLS400 subwoofer
Lenovo Q190 running XBMC
2 x HP servers running 14TB of hard drives
Is this one here
a good entry level projector?
Don't know much bout these but its 1080P so is full HD.
I think these need a really dark room plus a screen to.
And have LEDs now reached the point where they can do a good job in a projector? I'm a bit out-of-touch, but my Panasonic projector uses a lamp that costs more than that whole projector in order to achieve the necessary brightness...
Another thing you need to know when choosing a projector is the throw of the lens you need to get the image size you want at the distance from the projector you want the screen to be. It's not as easy as choosing a TV!
If you are after a dedicated cinema room then yes, a PJ is the way forward, especially if it is only going to be used for those special occasions - not really ideal if it's going to replace normal TV viewing/gaming, they are not designed for heavy use, lamps/bulbs have a limited life, typically around 2000/3000 hrs, £99 is about the cheapest replacement for some makes/models, but prices can go a lot higher, £300+.
A PJ works best when the room is completely dark, so if you want to watch during the day you're probably going to have to invest in some blackout curtains/blind(s).
As already mentioned, the screen size/throw/positioning of the projector need to be worked out precisely, it's not a simple case of buying the screen/pj you think will do the job, you will need to do plenty of homework first.
HD ready PJ's are mostly 1280x720, Full HD comes in at 1920x1080. If 3d is not important go for non 3d models to keep costs down. Look at fan noise, if the unit is going to be close to you when watching you want it to be as quiet as possible
I can recommend Optoma, entry models are well priced, £500 should get you a HD PJ and decent screen around 100", if your budget is tight have a look at some second hand models on AV classifieds. Go for demos, certain PJ technologies do have side effects, DPL/rainbow effect, LCD/screen door effect, though technology has improved these effects can still be seen if you are susceptible to them.
Definitely worth doing the leg work if you are seriously looking into projection, done correctly the finished project will blow you away when the lights go down.
That is not so good then and they need to take it off there
