Just back from a screening that I bagged free tickets for.
I'd give it a solid 7/10
Tom Cruise managed to stay on the right side of annoying me in his performance. Always a good thing as IMHO he can slip too easily into cheesy caricature with roles. Dissapointed that Morgan Freeman phoned in his performance. One or two lines delivered in the way only he can but get the feeling he did it for the pay cheque.
Olga Kurylenko and Andrea Riseborough are both gorgeous but the Brit wins the acting range contest hands down.Overall I'd give it a 7/10.If you like 1970s sci fi and associated genres of that period, you should enjoy it as I did.

It seems to have come out of nowhere though. Not majorly hyped until more or less its release month.
It wasn't a classic of the genre by any means & most of the twists etc weren't particularly original but overall this did what I expected it to so it gets a solid 7/10 from me...
Has anyone listened to the full soundtrack by M83 by any chance? It is AMAZING! I love it!
A very good watch if a bit of a homage to just about every sci-film ever made from 2001 to Independence day with a liberal dosage of Planet of the Apes and a bit of Matrix thrown in.
A little corny in places but the visuals are stunning so I would recommend anyone to see it on a big screen or IMAX:)
Sums up my feelings pretty well. Solid performances all round with just enough story to keep you interested. A bit of Hollywood cheese towards the end but overall worth a watch. My seat was vibrating with the sound in my IMAX showing.:)
Bubbleship is stunning.
And I love the Swimming Pool......Olga too.;)
But there should have been more Morgan Freeman.
pretty much made up my mind there and then I want be paying any money to watch it.
Nevertheless 7/10 but I'd recommend waiting for the blu-ray
Andrea Riseborough is great as ever - hopefully more Hollywood roles beckon!
3 out of 5
It reminded me of two things:
1) the Orange adverts, I kept expecting it to turn into one of those hilarious parody adverts
2) Joey from Friends 'smell the fart acting', seriously my friend and I have been taking the mick out of the facial expressions all week!
And I still have no clue what the actual point of the movie was! Shame as I quite like Tom Cruise.
Yes - I had much the same thought. The first hour is very much a scene setter - and then it takes a very different turn in a different direction.
The one character I seemed to care most about in the end was Andrea Riseborough's character even though maybe I wasn't supposed to! Possibly because she acted everyone else off the screen.
As everyone else has said the film is visually stunning. It's definitely entertaining and not actually as predictable as you'd expect - there were a couple plot twists that I would not have been able to guess in a million years. That said, the plot was actually rather bizarre (in a wtf did I just watch kind of way). I'd still recommend it though.
