Windows live email not working

Hi I downloaded windows essentials and I can't open windows live mail.When I try and open it I get an icon asking me if I want to make changes to my computer. When I try nothing happens. I have looked at the properties and made sure it's compatible with windows 7 and it is. Does anyone have any ideas?
