Hi all,
Just wondering (might seem like a daft question) but when you buy Chorizo from a supermarket, you usually get it from the fridges....can you eat this as you buy it when you get home, or do you have to cook it first?
Basically, is it ready to eat when you buy it from a fridge?
Thanks!!!

Its cooked cured meat.
You can bung it in pasta, on pizza, chicken etc.
I LOVE chorizo -- I could eat a whole pack stuffed in a pitta bread with feta cheese and green pesto.....mmmmm
if it comes from a supermarket deli counter it is possible that it could be the uncooked type so beware!
Sorry I am going to be really anal but chorizo is almost always cooked when bought in a supermarket and even if it is not you can actually eat it uncooked, without harm.

Either way you are right - but it is safe to eat it uncooked.
(I am a chorizo junkie;):D)
if it's in sausage form, it is cooked so you can eat like that or you can cook with it.
my boyfriend only likes it when its cold "uncooked" , i like it either way
"....The chorizo used for this dish is less cured and cannot be eaten without being cooked......"
i discovered myself the hard way that it is most definately not safe to eat all chorizo uncooked. there are most definately varieties that must be cooked before eating.
I am well 'ard.
(and that extract was for a certain type of dish, but I am not getting into an argument over sausage!;))
Damn you!... I'm on a diet.. stop tempting me! GRRR
Drool!
I do something similar adding puy lentils and Morcilla (spanish black pudding). Divine.
Edited to add, raw chorizo will feel like raw sausages - if its firm then it will be cooked.
