May 25th 1983, the last of the original trilogy to be released
Ok, it wasn't the best of the 3 originals but there were some dam good sequences
Battle of Endor and Luke v Vader to name but a few

Cannot believe that I was only 7 yrs old when this originally came out. May have to crack open the collection later & give it another watch.
I do remember that when
The weakest of the trilogy - and at the time I hadn't seen "Empire"(that came the following year at the same cinema - it got a repeat showing), but still has some memorable moments - Jabba, speedbike chase, Luke and Vader battling it out, the Emperor, etc. Compared to the latest SW films - it is a masterpiece!
But it's creaky and badly directed, rather like the prequels.
Effects and music raise it up somewhat.
A mere whippersnapper as the original film also had its birthday today - 36 years old.
Neither were released in the UK on the same day as the US however.
I remember seeing this at the cinema as well. 30 years, fcuk me I feel old.
