I agree with Erwin. I was expecting a wider rock variety. If the station is going to diversify, I don't think that will happen until after the tests at the earliest. DAB stations shouldn't need to conduct tests before going on air.

Sounds like they only play all the heavy stuff from the database map 'heavy metal' randomly and that this is not the entire database of music. Hope they fix that. I know the heavy metal rock fans like it at the moment, but this is not likely this is there final format because the press release says other things: broader and wider variety of rock.

It's only a test transmission at the moment - I'm sure what they are playing at the moment won't fully represent what their output will eventually be like. They've already announced they will have specialist shows.Classic Rock Show - Nicy Horne ; AOR show ; Blues Rock show.I'm sure there'll be more specialist shows as well that will appeal to particular audiences.

Agree that they need to reduce the amount of the 'heavier' end of Kerrang radio (Nu Metal, Metalcore) played.Kerrang does play alot of pop - rock as well (usually called indie rock days :p).From my impression there will be little pop rock played on the station - it's well catered for else where anyway (& doesn't seem to attract many listeners ).A fair proportionn of Pop (melodic) Metal is going to be played though.

Despite the drawbacks at the moment still enjoying listening to the 'tests'.It appears the station is going to be very open to listener feedback / suggestions.

There are virtually no repeat tracks on the tests at the moment :)

A station is never going to make 100% of the population happy with it's format or playlist. So there will always be those not happy because a station is not what they had expected or wanted from said station. Then there are those that are just 'professional' negative critics and were always going to criticise a station no matter what it does, they were never going to be happy come what may.

I'm surprised there isn't even a basic website, but maybe websites are less necessary at this stage of a radio station's life because of social networks.

My only criticism having listened between 4 and 6 and since about 10:30, is that it is a bit too Kerrangy.
There was certainly a very basic website last month on which you could register your email address as a sign of interest so that they could keep you updated with information.

If they had said it will be a metal station I wouldn't complain, but they indicated that the playlist would be wider not just in terms of how many songs were on it, but also in terms of the amount of rock genres. Kerrang probably has a wider daytime playlist.

Been giving this a listen online and sounds ok, was going to invest in a DAB radio for when its up and running fully, but on doing a postcode check theres only about 14 stations showing that i could pick up in my area, given this if and when the analogue is switched off theres going to be a very minute choice of listening in some areas, a mate of mine cant get digital at all where he lives.

Before analogue is switched off DAB has to match FM coverage. In fact analogue is not being completely switched off anyway. The plan its to keep community stations on FM.

Ah right, when team rock is fully up and running im going to do another postcode check to see if its possible to pick it up as other stations i can get have now been highlighted, on what ive heard so far during the test signal theres not much difference at all musically from real radio xs.

For some reason this station will not appear on my car DAB even with a retune.

Some older car radios (mine included - Blaupunkt Woodstock 52) have a maximum number of services per multiplex that they'll store, so they won't get everything on Digital1.

I have a sandstorm unit that point blank refused to see the new station, found out I needed to do a system reset which wiped the existing memory and now teamrock has finally appeared.

I think the playlist has become more diverse over the past few days.

Mwah, they adding music to the library. But a little more diversity is still needed. What about some old new wave/classic alternative tracks?

Always look forward to the full launch of a new station. It's then that you get a real feel for what the station itself thinks it should sound like. Test transmissions can often be misleading about how the final thing will sound. Those early tests of Laser on 729kHz, in the early 1980's when they just played the Beatles a fine example of how the test was not like the actual. The Beatles the most overrated and over aired of all bands IMHO others will disagree of course.

Well as you asked sadly know. I find the lack of classic rock tracks disappointing. Too like Kerrang for me.

They don't play what they promised so far in there press releases. They promised a broad variety of rock styles, from The Beatles to all the heavier stuff you hear at the moment in these test transmissions.

    Article about them:

    Campaign Magazine
Personally I am glad we are getting a radio station playing the heavier side of rock, and hope they keep the playlist they have at the moment on the tests.
