I'm glad that things have reached their natural conclusion with UMI. Being a small Irish label, mostly focused on promoting Universal artists in Ireland, UMI never quite seemed to be able to make the most of the Jeds' success in Europe after Eurovision 2011. But UMI did let the Jeds have a lot of creative freedom with their albums. There was no one pulling the strings there!
So I'd love it if the Jeds could find a label with the resources to really harness their European fan base, as well as expanding them into new territories. And also who'll let them have the same level of creative control as previously.
And who knows - maybe things are afoot in NYC!
Although the rumours now are that they got a connecting flight, maybe to LA.
Maybe we're delusional but it really seems like it:
- They start following Interscope a few hours before the UMI end of contract appears on the press.
- Sources say in those articles that they already have offers from other labels.
- They make a trip to the city where Interscope has its offices the same day everything about UMI is announced.

It can be all a big coincidence though
And can we fit Louis into the scenario? He would surely be needed for negotiating a contract. We thinkhe is on holiday in Miami at the moment but could pop up to LA for a couple of days
As I mentioned above (post #1176), Interscope is part of UMG - if the twins were moving there, would that not be an internal transfer to another arm of the Universal umbrella? Why then would there be a newspaper report that they'd been 'dropped'? Why court bad publicity like that if the artist was remaining within the wider Universal family

mmmmm I guess it depends where the story generated from and what their intentions were? Trying to create a negative story when there isn't necessarily one? Is this the same paper that did that negative article a while ago?
Although we are in danger of counting our chickens before they're hatched but it's a nice theory which I'm happy to go along with until disapproved.

The reporter, Eoin Murphy, is definitely on Team Jedward and he's written relatively positive stories about the Jeds before. And remember the Frankie Cocozza backstage X Factor drama from 2011? Eoin was the one who cut through the rumours about the Jeds in the Irish media. http://vimeo.com/30739421
I'd guess that the story was given as an exclusive to Eoin and the Mail from Team Jedward. They got the story out there and with a positive spin on the article - there's no mention of the Jeds being failures, it notes they're still signed with Louis and it talks very positively about future plans.
The alternative could have been a less sympathetic tabloid hearing about it and publishing a harsh article focusing on negative things - like that rubbish article from a few months ago.
It looks like Edward was using his @Edwardgrimes account to stir up interest in Interscope (since deleted) so it sounds like they are indeed going to meet with Interscope!
They've also started following Cherrytree Records. Cherrytree is a subsidiary of Interscope, which specialises in alternative pop. Two of their best known artists are Robyn and Tokio Hotel. I actually think the Jeds might be a bit too conventional pop for Cherrytree, but who knows what they're planning for their next album!
I just had a thought - given that the Jeds learned of UMI's decision in December, do you suppose their Canadian visit was part of their campaign to get signed to Interscope? Canada has proven they can appeal to a North American audience, do TV appearances (both teen and adult) and fit into a non-European culture. Very clever, I reckon!

It could be
It has been a very confusing morning until I realized the twins had used their "personal" accounts to ask the fans to tweet Interscope.
They referenced interscope a while back this is clever using his Edward grimes acount as media lurk their twitter but I can't see other then the orginal article no other media has picked it up yet
That sounds more like the reality. As Louis as commented can we assume he's already involved in negotiations and meetings have already been set? Gosh! I'm worried about speculating too much in case I jinx it.

As their manager, you would certainly think so. One of his main roles would be to negotiate with potential record companies on their behalf

Universal Ireland deserve an enormous amount of credit for giving the twins a three album deal in 2010 (and following through with it). It was definitely a big boost to Jedward's music career at that moment in time.
The Jeds first met Sam on BB 2010, when they performed in the house for the "Ignore the Obvious" task. The housemates (who were also ignoring newbie Sam) had the difficult task of not going crazy and totally rocking out while the Jeds performed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nl4kBjiI6Vs

Sam was a very funny guy on BB. He was quite subversive and anarchic with an acid tongue and was hated by all the other housemates....but had a big cult following among the viewers and here on DS
I love that they have apparently all agreed to dress in black and high tops. And it's interesting that Tara always tweets where they are - ensuring there'll be paps waiting!

If you take your time having your make-up done, at least be sure someone is gonna see it
I hope the L.A. trip has something to do with the music labels, and it's not just a normal holiday. I mean, it's great they have holidays but going to the opposite corner of the world and not taking the chance of approaching those music labels would be a shame.
Funny that in their first day in L.A. the twins had their hair flat and normal clothes and yesterday they had their hair styled and crazy jedwardy clothes

It seems Louis is being supportive

Those fans who are prone to jealousy will be apoplectic with rage!
