We're not voting on who we think will sell.

This whole "Sam B, Nicholas, Abi wont sell" rubbish is grating on me. We're not asked to vote on who will sell the most records, or make the most money.
We're voting on a group of things like voice, stage presence and likeability. All of which put Sam B streets ahead of any other contestant this year. People say she wont sell, and therefore shouldn't win are just talking a load of crap. There is no certainty that ANY of this years lot will sell. The only one that looks like she could sell is probably Tamera, and even then she isn't exactly liked by the public, so will most likely have a Misha B/Amelia Lily route. Why the hell must we vote on who will sell? We vote for who we like, who we think is the best, and for me - and clearly the majority of others - that is Sam B.

I do agree with you tho that people need to separate the television show aspect from the recording artist potential when it comes to how well or otherwise contestants are doing in the voting
But people are claiming Sam B won't sell just because she isn't modern. I think everyone needs to remember that Susan Boyle shifts a lot more albums than Rihanna does. It says it all really. If Sam B can come out with new material, well written material, there is absolutely no doubt she will sell ALBUMS. Radio 2 will most likely be behind her. If you look online and look at her supporters too, it's not just the old voting group, or the people who like 'big belters' it's a lot of younger people too. Her talent isn't getting ignored or pushed aside because she is an over this year, and it's about time too.
....because Sam B can't sing.
If I had the option of just voting for Abi (who I don't think can sing) and Tamera (who clearly can sing) I would definitely, 100% vote for Abi.
Why? Because Tamera comes across unlikable, cocky, arrogant and her past isn't exactly something I would want associated with winning one of the biggest TV shows in the UK. That's just my opinion. It isn't a problem. The voting is open for anyone to vote anyone, not just because someone can sell or sing better.
Of course it is, but it's not getting questioned. People who support Sam B are being constantly told she wont sell. Not "she might not sell" or "she MIGHT flop", it's constantly "She WILL NOT sell." It's looking increasingly more likely she will sell a lot more than the likes of Tamera, Abi, Sam C or Hannah.
Susan Boyle sold millions of albums because of her viral audition video that made her famous worldwide. However, a few years later, Susan's current record sales are abysmal.
Sam Bailey has no viral audition video. She can sing, but I don't see her as a recording artist.
no-one on the UK show this year is going to have anywhere near that amount of hype on their side
don't get me wrong , i have not ruled out the possibility of her being able to do well after the show , but she cant achieve that if she continues with the style of music, performance and image she has been getting on the lives
if she gets more original material and shows she can offer something more original than the stars in their eyes type stuff she has been doing then she might have a chance
Sam B would do okay if she won, but i think Tamera would sell far more albums to be honest.
The reason SuBo is now not going great, is because, despite being marketable (nobody can argue this, look at her sales) she isn't modern enough, and versatile enough for her record label to know what to do with her. They can hardly right her an uptempo, catchy song. That's where Sam B can fit in. Her voice is absolutely amazing, her image is marketable to the more mature buyer, and she will have songs that wont immediately put 20/30 year olds off - if her management and label work it well.
People keep saying she has no market at all, can we all just look at the iTunes album chart right now. Celine Dion is number 12 on pre-orders alone. Yesterday she got to number 9 (whilst Lady Gaga was at number 11 on pre-orders). There is clearly a market, whatever people on here like to think.
Singles - no doubt she would sell more.
But look at Misha B and Cher Lloyd - the two most marketable of their series (maybe not Cher, she probably 2nd most) yet, disliked by the public. Same with Tamera. Teenage girls dont like her, adults dont particularly like her. People might buy the occasional single, but not the album.
as i said above i agree with this , but at this point in time we haven't seen her do anything like this so cant really judge her on it
but how can you when the type of songs and styling they are getting on the show is so restricted and limited by the themes, especially the themes we have had so far this year
Listen by Beyonce.
Clown by Emeli Sande.
Who's Loving You - Jackson 5.
Those are all 'modern' songs. Fair enough, the last one isn't, but it is very common amongst the 'youth' of today.
The point in voting is that I can say "Yay, Sam B, someone I like, has won X Factor." instead of "Christ, Tamera won, she is so arrogant, but I voted because I think she can sell." No. No. No. It should NOT be that way.
Susan Boyle is far from marketable. She had a viral audition video, that's all. Otherwise nobody would buy albums from old cat lady.
Celine Dion was a big star in the '80s and '90s. She and her contemporaries (Mariah, Whitney), were the popstars of that time. Today, Celine is a musical dinosaur. Her label didn't even bother sending a single to radio for this album. But at least Celine has a name and is considered one of the legends.
Sam Bailey is already 35 and there is nothing legendary about her.
i really hope from here on in we start seeing themes that allow each of the contestants a bit more freedom to do the type of music they want , next weeks theme should do that
i wont hold my breath about it happening tho
Susan Boyle is marketable. She was marketed as this huge inspiration, this transformation etc etc etc. There is a market for Susan Boyle, whether it be for granny and grandads or not, it's a market - one that made her more money in one album than any of Rihanna's.
Celine was a huge star, yes. As I keep being told, but I am also being told by people on this forum "Celine is irrelevant now. If it was the 80's Sam B would be huge, but now, will be irrelevant like Celine". Yes, so irrelevant she was top 10 on iTunes on pre-orders alone.
Sam B is 35 yes. Is on a talent show. Is the best on the talent show, and is in with a huge shot at winning.
Susan Boyle isn't marketable. She got good promo for her first album, because of her viral audition. It was a one time thing that didn't last long. Her latest albums didn't get much promo. Rihanna meanwhile sells millions of albums with each of her releases.
Going TOP 10 on pre-orders alone is nothing major. All those pre-orders still won't amount to a huge debut week and after that Celine's sales will drop with no radioplay.
"Rihannah meanwhile sells millions of albums with each of her releases" AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA......no. In the US maybe, but she gets nowhere NEAR that in the UK.
Susan Boyle was marketable. There was obviously a huge place in the market for her. And there still is. She still manages to get top 10 and stay top 40 long enough. It's the same people that have stuck by her whereas people like Ke$ha, Rita Ora and so on all move on and don't buy the albums.
that's why i maintain she needs to start showing something different soon or she will struggle
