    the supremes for me, for consistency. shangri-las were good, as were the ronettes and crystals, the paper dolls and flirtations, but their output was much less then the supremes.

    Does anyone remember The 411? They were pretty good, but only managed to get one album out :(

    From those listed above, I liked the Supremes and Bananarama. Coincidentally, they both recorded Nathan Jones.

    My all-time fave song by a girl band is the Bangles with Walk Like an Egyptian, followed by the Velvelettes with Needle in a Haystack.

    In recent years I liked the Spice Girls, especially with Who Do You Think You Are? and Bellefire with Perfect Bliss.

    As I like more girl solo singers than girl bands, I have few others to mention. Of the recent ones, the Saturdays are the best but even they have lost their way a bit.

    I was in college with Susan from the 411. They had good singles and the album was okay. They initially had an edge to them which they lost.

    The best girl group for me is deffo the Spice Girls.

    But I also like Spice Girls, TLC, From Above, Miss A, The Saturdays, Stooshe, WonderGirls and Blush.

    my favourite track by a girl group would be 'nowhere to run (nowhere to hide)' - martha reeves and the vandellas

    (never understoodwhat a 'vandella' was... google time me thinks).

    I'm not a fan of girl-group pop, but On My Knees by the 411 was a brilliant song.

    Brownstone for me - even if they only did 2 albums. Their harmonies were untoucheable.
