I find absolutely no difference in quality (in fact I have stayed somewhere that was once a Travelodge and then a Premier Inn, and it was exactly the same).
However, Travelodge is usually significantly cheaper and more conveniently located.
Premier Inn for me. Its always been clean and cheap.
My husband was given a room in a Travelodge that hadn't been cleaned from the last guests. They tried to say he had made the mess in the few minutes he was in the room.

I've never known an unclean travelodge. That's unfortunate
They used to be quite similar a few years ago but Premier Inns have really reinvented themselves and are now very very nice. Travelodges on the other hand seem to have got more basic.
I do a lot of business travelling and stay in Premier Inns 2-3 nights a week most of the time, if ever I have to stay in a Travelodge I HATE it - the older ones are horrid and while the news ones are nicer they're still nowhere as nice as Premier Inns.
Whoever says they're similar in quality hasn't stayed in one recently !
This evening I'm actually in a Best Western, organised by my client of tomorrow, and it's not as nice as the Premier Inn I was in earlier in the week.

kool ..can i ask out of curiosity ..if your in a hotel / inn how can you use the internet tonight to post here ..:) do they have internet connections
I agree that they used to be similar but Travelodge are seeming to pride themselves on cutting out even basic things.
- you only get 1 very small soap at Travelodge- Premier Inn has wallmounted soap dispensers
- one towel
- not as much tea/coffee
- TV not as good as Premier Inn - fewer channels and not easy to operate
- Beds better at Premier Inn, particularly the ones that weren't Travel Inns
- Internet access better at Premier Inns- Wifi
-
thanks ..i have a laptop but i havent heard of TMobile .you learn something new on DS..:):)
I pay monthly for it but as I travel around so much it's worth it, most hotels do have wifi access now but most of the time you're paying about £8 an hour or more for it - occasionally it's free, but rarely.
I work away from home a lot and always try to stay in a Premier Inn rather than a Travelodge, but my favourite of all is Holiday Inn Express as their rooms are nicer.
Premier Inn do offer wi-fi but the one I was in a couple of weeks ago charged £5 per hour, which is an absolute rip-off, especially when small independent hotels usually offer it for free.

It's gone down in price then as the last time I used it it was £8 - though that was a couple of years ago before I got the TMobile card.
I agree Holiday Inn Expresses are nice as well, plus you get breakfast included in the price as well instead of extra - they aren't in as many places though.
I've stopped in a few Travelodges - they are perfectly fine when all is want is for somewhere to turn up late at night (often after being out drinking), collapse asleep, wake up 6 hours later, shower and leave.
If you are going to spend 99% of your time in the room asleep, then why pay for more?
However, if you want a nice relaxing, luxurious and romantic getaway - then look elsewhere.

If you take kids to a travel lodge, you have to make up their beds for them yourself!
Not where anyone actually wants to stay. Anyway, I would rather pay a bit more unless I literally am arriving late, crashing out for the night and leaving first thing.
They tend to be full of drunken stag and hen parties at the weekend too.
Premier Inns get my vote too. Although I wish they would learn to make beds properly (actually that applies to most hotels) - fed up with having to put the bottom sheet on properly.

Never stay in a Formula1 in Europe then - never know so many parties going on in a hotel

which is why you can get rooms for £19 & £29!
Ha Ha I'm glad there is someone on here with my sense of humour - it was the first thing that came into mind when I read the thread title.
Getting back on topic - I prefer Premier Inn
damn, you beat me to it  I was amazed that no-one had posted this earlier in the thread
Only if you're lucky and manage to get one of their special offers, mostly they're very similarly priced to Premier Inns.
