I remember years ago, must have been in 80's, watching a film with my mam about a guy who gets in a taxi gets to his destination and hasnt enough money so tells the driver to go somewhere else where he can get money, gets to next place and same thing. Film carrys on in this vain til the end, one of worst things i ever seen, i was sure david warner was in it but cant remember name of it all

done that, i thought it was called taxi or similar, there is one called Drive but has no description and seemed a bit late as i had left home by then

So it appears to be an American TV show. Was it shown on British TV?

By the way, although the OP thought the film was rubbish, Stoppard is one of the most respected writers of the modern era. He's written straight film scripts like Empire of the Sun (Bafta for best adapted screenplay) and Shakespeare in Love (Oscar for best original screenplay). But he does love to play with words and ideas and is known for combining popular culture with deeper themes (e.g. combining football with an attack on totalitarian politics in Professional Foul).
