Danny Boyle or Christopher Nolan?
A simple question. Whose films do you more eagerly await to see when released? For me, it's Boyle. The reason? He's the most versatile director since Kubrick. You never know which genre he will tackle next, but you can be sure he'll provide yo something worth watching!

One of the few directors who I have seen nearly every movie.

I liked Shallow Grave and Trainspotting from Boyle. Most others of his have bored me to be honest. I would say he is very hit and miss, but mostly miss.
For both I find their other films are rather overrated. 127 hours has a magnificent ending, but drags before that, Slumdog is half good, Inception was a bit dumb to me, I just liked the floating about bits, the other two Batman films are not a patch on the middle film.
They are both makers of original films though, and that has to be respected, and I will always be interested to see what their latest movies are like. Nolan definitely has the edge though.
I saw Trance yesterday, great beginning, then it went up its own rabbit hole, and was another half good film.
I personally love 28 Days Later and Sunshine.
Can't wait to see Trance but I can't stand going to the cinema, I shall wait for the Blu Ray and pre-order that instead...
Boyle is supremely talented but the films of his that I've seen have been hit and miss. Loved Trainspotting, 28 Days Later, 127 Hours, and Millions, but didn't enjoy Slumdog, Trance, or Sunshine.
But... he sometimes allows his films to buckle under exposition and become mired in a narrative mess (TDKR was a hugely disappointing mess of a film). I can see how Boyle's films could be perceived as being a breath of fresh air in comparison.
On the whole, I prefer Nolan's films though. I'm just glad that he's finished with the Batman trilogy now. He got bogged down with them I feel.
Deffo Nolan for me. Hasn't disappointed yet with out of his movies. But dude seriously you were disappointed by the depth of inception? I think it was his best film, great character development, great premise. Best Sci-fi since the matrix for me.
No, in the modern world of the internet you must pick x over y and furthermore x or y's next work will be instantly declared either the "BEST THING EVA!" or "BIGGEST TRAVESTY IN CINEMA HISTORY AND FULL OF PLOT HOLES"
As for Nolan, I LOVED Memento and really enjoyed The Prestige and Dark Knight but I haven't really been blown away by any of his others.
I don't think that there is a Danny Boyle film that I like so I don't await them at all.
So the question is, if Nolan were to stop doing sci-fi would his films still be as good?
And is a noble failure better than a comfortable success?
Stop doing sci-fi? He's done Inception and now Interstellar. The Prestige had a slight feel of sci-fi but it focused far more as a drama or period film. No other sci-fi in his collection.
