What do you all think of the Narnia films? I think that the first (LWW) is amazing, and is by far the best of the three, PC I thought dragged on for too long, and for some reason I just didn't enjoy VDD.
Georgie Henley (Lucy Pevensie) tweeted that the 4th Narnia film will be the magicians nephew and will be released either late this year or early next year. I am looking forward to this as I loved the MN book.
Are any of you looking forward to the 4th Narnia film? Which current films/books are your favourite and do you think that the books or films are better?

Prince Caspian - Slightly better than the first film imo.
The Voyage of the Dawn Treader - Didn't enjoy it much. Probably won't watch it again.
I read a couple of the Narnia books at school, back in the '70s.
I'm currently reading, and near the end of, The Prestige. I've already seen the film twice, and I re-watched it again yesterday. I think both the film and the book are very good. They also have major differences storyline-wise.
Rumours suggest that Walden Media probably won't be involved with the future films because the C.S. Lewis estate are not happy with the direction of the films. It's therefore unlikely that production on the next film will begin any time soon.
I may be totally wrong and will happily stand corrected, I haven't read it for about 40 years!
Oh, ok, thanks
You're right, it didn't feature them, they wanted to make LWW first because it's the most popular, but apparently now they are going to make MN.
I'm halfway through that one
I don't know what was missing from them, but something certainly was. I thought the boy who played Edmund, and the girl who played Lucy were good, but the script wasn't, and the two older children weren't very good, imo. Aslan didn't impress me much, either.
The Voyage of The Dawn Treader was always my favourite, as a child, but they'd altered it for the screen, and not for the better.
I do think they should follow the sequence, though, and do The Silver Chair next, if they are going to do anything at all.
Certainly my favourite. It could have looked great on film too.
Not sure how they could ever have filmed 'The Last Battle' though. Or handle the Christian analogy moving into overdrive.
Ian.
I have them all in one big hardback book together
Looking at wiki, it seems without Walden Media the earliest we'll see the next film (Silver Chair) is 2018! Well there certainly is going to have to be some recasts ... the actor who played Eustence (a supposed eleven year old in SC) will be 25!
In 2018 it'll be 13 years since Lion and 8 years since Treader - I feel a reboot approaching.
BIB 1- really???! I never knew he was that old!!!
BIB 2-Me too, although I did think that the original LWW was perfect.
Prince Caspian is a pretty lousy sequel in written form. And the film didn't right any of wrongs, despite attempts to liven it up. Plodding, overlong and uninteresting.
Voyage of the Dawn Treader was much better. I found Will Poulter a little disappointing as Eustace (having liked his performance in Son of Rambow, he over-acted a little too much) but, generally, it was a much tighter film.
It's likely that this is all we'll see of Narnia for the time being, though. I've never liked The Magician's Nephew (explaining the mysteries of Narnia is pointless, and the magic rings idea takes it into the realm of sci-fi rather than fantasy)
I detest The Last Battle where the Christian preaching got too much to take. I would imagine it's practically unfilmable. As is the, rather dull, A Horse And His Boy.
The Silver Chair is a much better choice than The Magician's Nephew for film #4, but I don't think we'll see either anytime soon.
Well sadly for you Christian ideals are at the heart of most if not all of the Narnia novels. And if they come out of any productions in the future, as far as I'm concerned, bring it on!
