Yes, I read the interview where she talked about the one drop rule. I think it was in the same interview she was almost apologetic about having a child with a white man.
And considering she was raised primarily by her (white) mother after her (black) father walked out on them, it is a surprise that she wouldn't be more conciliatory in her tone.
Otherwise, she would be best advised not to keep going with white guys in future. Look out, Olivier!!
To be fair to Halle on the whole considering herself and her daughter black thing, its probably not an attack on the father because she's always stated she considers herself black because society will never view her any other way. And its true I'm mixed like Halle and I'm 90% of the time referred to as black, which is odd because I'm no more black than I am white and no one will ever refer to me as white...not that I want to be either.
It doesn't matter if you're mixed, to the majority of people you are black and they will perceive you and treat as such. You get to a point where you're like 'why fight it'. Halle's daughter, despite being more white than black will be treated like a black person her whole life, she may as well get used to it now.
“I'm not going to put a label on it. I had to decide for myself and that's what she's going to have to decide - how she identifies herself in the world.
“And I think, largely, that will be based on how the world identifies her. That's how I identified myself. But I feel like she's black.

Although you're entitled to consider yourself whatever you want, I think it's sad that you let other people define you. Just because they think that way, it doesn't mean it's right. I am mixed myself. I am half Arab, Half White and I always make a point of saying I am both. If people can't accept that they are the ones with the problem, not me.
As someone who is mixed race this is pretty much the attitude I face every day. I identify with white people and white culture far more than black culture but I'll always be labelled black before mixed and white. This is very much the attitude of today. I don't remember all the articles lauding Obama for being the first mixed president, or Halle Berry as the first mixed Best actress winner at the Oscars. Mixed people of black descent are always lumped with black people. Halle is just stating that her daughter will probably be too.
A strange example to use. Anyway my point still stands. Us mixed race people should be able to say we're both and not feel we should pigeonhole ourselves as one or another. One things for sure Nahla is a beautiful girl with the best features from both parents.
He doesn't need to as she has to pay him 20k per month.
What has that got to do with compensation for slander/libel? Anyway, I can see you're revelling in your obtuseness on here so I'll leave you to it...

Yeah but look what happened when Tiger Woods tried to make that point - he kept telling people that he wasn't black but that he was half black, half Thai. African Americans were mad at him for saying he wasn't black because like Obama they regard him as one of thir own. Thai Americans would only accept his mother being Thai but not him. There was quite a fuss about it in the news at the time,

I absolutely love America and the people there but I can't stand their outdated views on Race and specifically Mixed people.

It seems this story has taken a horrible turn with Aubry allegedly being arrested for battery after a fight with Olivier in which Olivier knocked him unconscious - courtesy of TMZ

This is very suss, especially considering the timing, a strong possibility of a set-up and Halle gets her way after all. It's odd that Gab has put up with so much crap for so long and has just won the battle and THEN 'starts a fight'.
Who are the witnesses and are they impartial, considering this all went down on Halle's property? And how come Gab has by far the worst injuries and Martinez has a broken hand?
The question is would Halle do anything to get Gabriel out of her daughter's life, including subjecting her to a nasty brawl?

the whole thing sounds a mess. That report makes out Gabriel punched Olivier who then went ape. Sad situation which will no doubt get played out by the media. I feel like banging there heads together:(
I'm don't understand why Gabriel has been arrested and Olivier hasn't, seeing as Gabriel seems to have suffered far worse injuries?

This!
Quite frankly, Martinez shouldn't have been present at the handover. The situation is between Gabrial and Halle, and their partners should stay out of it.

I don't understand it either, I would also be concerned that the child is in a home with a step father able to inflict such injuries a person, regardless of how it started.
I assumed this was going to get nasty after Halle lost the right to remove her daughter to France - now it seems that is the case. Poor child.

And she's half white herself. What an idiot.

Halle needs to urgently look at her maths skills. Her daughter is 25% black and 75% white.
So? She'll be referred to as the "black girl" many more times than she'll be called the "white girl" or the "mixed girl" even if she is more white!
A very old fashioned and outdated view

Well by your logic Sandra Laing is 100% white as she was born to white parents.
