Only Ivy, Derek and Karen are interesting, the rest just feels like filler
Hardly. The series was dead after the shocking ratings for the first episode of season 2 were released.
It is also somewhat of a relief that the final episode does bring some element of closure rather than ending on a cliff hanger (which would have been a disaster).
I think, on reflection that it is good that it only had two seasons. I felt the stories of the characters are told in the episodes made.
There seem to be way too may sub-plots and twists and turns and features about characters that i am just not interested in that leave me feeling exhausted after an episode. I too loved the diva behaviour and the songs. Guess it has just run its course.
Still a fabulous cast and I adore Megan Hilty.
If the show had continued, season 3 would of been about a musical film.
Was just going to post this, not sure id want to see it as it seems quite depressing. They didn't say anything about Katherin McPhee who you would think would be the ticket seller unless it's just industry people like the real Producers etc.
Could live without Nanny mcPhee but a few walkons from other Smash actors would be fun.
The final four episodes were a bit of a mess, really - so many storylines suddenly crammed in to so little time.
A shame. I really wanted to love Smash - for all its flaws it did have some great moments - but it all just fell apart towards the end.
I've penned a review of the season overall if anyone's interested ...

maybe its my age but I thought it was more Lena and Bonnie than Velma and Roxy
I actually found the last three episodes much better than the episodes where Derek walked from Bombshell and there were all those twists and turns, which drove me nuts.
Loved the last episode. Found myself on the sofa shouting BOMBSHELL when they were about to announce the Tony for best musical.
I really enjoyed all the big musical numbers and I am actually a bit sad to see this end.
