Groups with Box in the name
Most obvious is Italian house act, Black Box, who had a massive number one hit with Ride on Time in 1989 and two other top ten hits in 1990 before fading away, but anyone else recall Living In A Box and Red Box? Living In A Box were popular between 1987 and 1989 and were like a dance pop act who scored their biggest success with the self titled single and also had two further hits in 1989, with Brian May drafted in for their second album. Red Box are probably the least well know of the Box acts, but had two huge hits in 1985 and 1986 with Lean On Me and For America, the latter being a quirky satire of American life. Indeed for all their success dried up after their second top ten hit, apparently Red Box still exist.

Candlebox
Forget them, they were quite popular in the Box era from 1985 to 1989. It seemed if you had Box in your group name, you could get a hit then.
Black Box seemed to have an interesting story behind them. The woman who was the stage presence didn't sing on any of the records and they sampled obscure disco singer Loleatta Holloway, who made more out of this than in her entire career, and most of the singing on record was done by Martha Wash. Like most dance acts, the person you saw on TOTP wasn't the singer.
The two main members of the groups went on to be part of M/A/R/R/S, of "Pump Up The Volume" fame.
It must have been the time for bands with box in their title. Yet it's odd Red Box are still sort of around, but Living In A Box and Black Box are long gone.
Interesting footnote, the tall model who was the television presence of Black Box was called Katrine Quinol.
You can get ointment for that.
The Black Box Revelation: Sweet As Cinnamon was one of the tunes of last year.
