The heads were erected by long-dead locals who were into ancestor worship. That's all.
It's still very interesting, but, agreed, not really a mystery any more.
The Richey Edwards thing really captured my imagination as a teenage Manics fan. To begin with, I was fairly sure that he was dead, but now, having found out how easy it can be to disappear and change your identity, I'm not sure. He may well be alive and well living abroad somewhere, perhaps with a loving partner and children for all we know.
I used to think he'd thrown himself off the Severn Bridge, but I now know it has CCTV cameras all along it (both bridges did then) and he would have been spotted.
I am also a Manics fan, and do find Richey's disappearance fascinating, but it also seems terribly sad as his sister has had to go view a large number of bodies apparently in case one of them is Richey.
One of my mysteries is Menwith Hill or rather what goes on there.
I love unsolved mysteries so will have to read the whole thread! I was disappointed recently when I came across some weird fossils but read that they were fakes:(
I think about Hillsborough a lot, don't think that counts as a mystery, but I wonder about the specific chain if events.
I think about it alot too but more about the chain of events afterwards. I have vivid memories of watching it on the tv and many people were traumatised watching it. The men and boys who were crushed and survived were traumatised as were those who lost their relatives.
Isn't it strange thenm if memory serves me correctly, that the only people to have got compensation for their trauma (despite the claims from all the categories of people I mention above) were the police.
Very interesting, twisting and turning court case with a very baffling result.

I know soooo many people affected by that Lozza, it was unbearable at the time, and still resonates now.
Atlantis - did Plato base this on a real civilisation? If so, which one?
Alexander the Great's tomb - I've always wondered where it is right now. Alexandria? Hope they find it in my lifetime. Come to think of it, was he really murdered?
Stonehenge - Why?
Same with the Easter Island Heads.
Princes in the Tower - personally, I think it was Richard III but there is no way of knowing for sure.
The Man in the Iron Mask - always been fascinated by this.
That's quite a lot and I'm sure there's more I can't think of right now. LOL. I guess I'm just a curious person.
Apologies Phoenix if this has already been posted, but I just thought you would be interested in Channel 5 tonight at 8~
