Looking through this thread I see so many of my favourite comics that I'd read on a Saturday morning. My mum would say 'That's it' but I always knew there'd be another hidden somewhere if I pleaded enough.

I'm glad to see 'Cor' get a mention. I was starting to think I'd imagined it.

I remember "Cor" and also "Cheeky".

Me too, but it was my local public library. They are almost entirely to blame for my comics habit.

    Top comics for me were:-

ACTION - Mid to late 1970s - the only comic to be banned in the UK!

TIGER - 1970s IPC offering - who could forget Johnny Cougar the wrestler?!

    VICTOR - Dc Thomson's offering.

BUSTER - Always good for a laugh!

HOTSPUR - Another action DC Thomson comic.

BATTLE - IPCs memorable war comic - grittier than Commando!

Loved Faceache, and his 'scrunging.' I also liked Leopard From Lime Street, about the boy superhero with cat-like abilities. I also liked that strip about a boy who had a group of humanoid aliens, each only a few inches high, living in his bedroom. They were the crew of a spacecraft that had crashed and been found by the boy, and the boy was taking care of them until such time as they could fix their spacecraft or be rescued.

LOL that was funny! :D I think the artist/creator of Buster got the idea from Andy Capp if memory serves me right.

Getting Tintin and the Black Island from our library when I was four or five set me off on a love affair with Tintin, that lasted until I started secondary school.

Tintin was supposed to be a journalist, so it was curious how you never saw him taking shorthand notes of situations, or interviewing anyone, writing or submitting copy. Nor did we ever see him dealing with editors, or ever hear any details of whether he worked for a particular paper, or was freelance, or ever see any of his experiences published in a finished article. Not only did we never see any of these things, we also never heard him allude to them at second hand. Odd that, wasn't it? Still, the target audience being quite young, I suppose they thought it would bog down the story somewhat.

Not even going to attempt a top ten but if I did then somewhere in the list would be:

Arkham Asylum - the 10th(?) Anniversary edition (with all the notes in the back)

The Dead Man (2000AD story of the burned man)

and the two 911 compilations - powerful stuff.
