The DS wouldn't get a look in next to the IPad, I would definitely change your gift.

Why not buy her a book? It's unlikely that anyone else in the family will.

She's 8? There a plenty of things to buy her. I work in retail & in toys. Most popular this year is Lalaloopsy & Monster High dolls or if you wanna spend a bit more go for one of those really big Fur Real Friends like the Pony or the Puppy.

First thought is, as above, she is 8 !!!!!!

On the other hand, since you know she is getting an Ipad (why, she is 8 !!!) what about getting something that can be used with it (a doll app ?? sorry, sarcastic head on for a moment there !)

Maybe a case, or a paid for app (I am back to the doll app aren't I ?)

She's being bought an Ipad when she's always breaking her toys? Wow. Get her a protective cover of some sort.

    I agree with this.
Also if you buy anything else it won't get a look in if she has an iPad;)

Id personally rather have the DS to the ipad. I don't really get the appeal of tablets.

As a kid I would have preferred a handheld games console.

As an adult I prefer a tablet.

Even a DS is quite some present to buy a cousin, I'd have thought a book token or a CD/itunes voucher would be more appropriate.

I'm 18, not 80. I'm well aware that kids have internet access,

but maybe you aren't aware that there's much more than 'game cheats and music videos and YouTube...
