With those actors in it, I'll probably give it a watch.
Same here.
Guy Pearce can be very hit and miss for me, I will admit more hit than miss, he does seem to be in quite a few 2012 releases, so maybe his star is shining.
I know very little about Jessica Chastain.
And Shia LaBeouf has never really struck a cord with me, doesn't stop me from going to see a film with him in it but he can get me second guessing.
The trailer looked good, nothing special and didn't give me goosebumps, but it looked reasonable, and I do like the Bondurant story so I might give a cinema watch.
I'll watch anything with Gary Oldman and Tom Hardy in it. Shia LaBeouf can act when he's given the right material...not really a fan of Guy Pearce. I'd never heard of Jessica Chastain before watching 'The Debt' earlier this year. She's very good....and hot
3/5. Not great.
I don't trust DS reviews they gave Men In Black 4/5 whereas Empire and Total Film have given it a 2.
However, I enjoyed it more than I had thought I would, despite the fact that it was obvious that the whole film was building up towards one particular act. It was a very bloody violent movie.
Couple of things spoilt it for me - Shia Le Beouf, I wish it wsn't him playing the part of the youngest brother, I can't take him seriously as an adult actor, and I just didn't like him in the part.
Also, it took a while for my ears to acclimatise to the accents/deep voices/mumbling, so I missed a lot of the lines at the beginning, and it seems I'm not alone in that.
Overall, it was a pretty good movie, though you really do have to suspend belief quite a lot of times.
xx
They should have made Tom Hardy less swoony though, he's a bit pretty in it...
My thoughts on Lawless here - http://www.thisisafilmblog.com/lawless-2012/
No such thing. Doesn't matter how much they try to ugly Tom up...it doesn't work.
It did slightly a bit at times, but I think the story was fundamentally a strong one that was well scripted, and it held together really well. I enjoyed the fact that it plays heavily on the ironic nature of the fate of one of the lead characters especially.
This is probably my favourite film of the year bar The Avengers actually. 9/10
