How unyhgenic are cats?
I asked a colleague if they had any pets and she said 'no - do you have any?' so I said two cats. She says 'I would never have cats in the house - they have fleas and they are dirty and bring in germs'. I left the concersation there wisely but I have heard this before from people that cats are unhygenic. What strikes me is that with all the 'dirt and germs' I never catch anything from them, however with people I have had in the last year:
Warts on fingertips from a door security pad at work
Athletes foot at the swiming pool
A bad bout of flu from some nit who came into work ill to show how much he cared.
Upset stomach after shaking visitors hands and forgetting to wash mine after.
Evil B.O. / halitosis from the storesman
In my experience humans seem to have an entourage of germs and smells following them about and cats are much cleaner - even with the fleas and licking!
So, which are generally less dirt and germ ridden - cats or people?

Great Stephen King three parter about that. Proved it wasn't true as I remember.:D
Some do. Some don't.
or maybe they put her in with the wash..
They don't in our garden.
Oh you and your "no dead cats on the sofa" rule.
They also dont tend to shit in their own garden
No, that's true. Lucky old cat owners, eh?
They don't have to do it in my bluddy garden though! They sometimes do it on the lawn as well. I hate the little buggers.
She smells of awesome as well, which she bloody should seeing as she never stops washing herself
Do you not have any flower beds?
Yes, it's the flower beds where they do it and cover it up.

Of course it may be completely unrelated to this.. some people hate all animals and think they are all 'dirty', 'unhygienic' etc. when they clearly aren't.. but that's people for you!
Why do cats smell so good?
One of the cats I had as a child used to smell of perfume, or face powder or something.
My present cat just smells of awesome too, and when she comes in from the garden she smells of woody outdoors awesome.
Oh dear, too many awesomes, I'm not even young enough to use the term.
