Dean Koontz
Never read a Dean Koontz book in my life, looking for a recommendation on which of his books I should read first.
Quite liked the synopsis of Velocity, but do not know if that would a good book to start with.
Haven't really done a lot of reading lately, just getting back into it, used to read a lot of Stephen King if that helps any.

I know you're looking for first hand reading experience - which I don't have of Dean Koontz! But I have heard good things about his book Watchers. I've bought it myself and it's on my to read list, so if I get round to it before you do I'll let you know how i get on!
Darkness Comes
Phantoms
These are fairly unusual and reasonably interesting.
Unfortunately DK thinks he's Stephen King; he's wrong.
I can only go on some of my favourites. I love the Odd Thomas series and I got into the Frankenstein series. Velocity is a good read, as is By The Light of The Moon.
The first ones I started on were Seize The Night and Fear nothing.
I can only go on my own personal favourites. I have tons more but I'd be here all night. I always find it hard to recommend as even when someone likes the same authors preferences can vary within that as there are some Stephen Kings I love and others I hate and my favourite of his is of all things The Green Mile and one that I go back to again and again my copy of the book is just about destroyed now and I read it when it was orignally a series of books before being put into one and I still go back to it.
Only Dean Koontz I have read that I have disliked was Icebound I really could not get into it no matter how hard I tried. Funny enough have just finished rereading Odd Thomas and about to start on Odd Hours again when I saw this thread.
Thanks for that, decided that I am going to try Odd Thomas first.
'The Good Guy' & 'The Husband' were also good.
'Relentless' however was on of the worst books I have ever read. It started off brilliantly, then out of nowhere it turned into some weird supernatural novel, which I hated.
If you've seen the film 'The Forgotten', you'll understand what I mean.
I hope you enjoy it. Its one of my favourites partly I think because there is humour in it as well as the suspense and there is just enough supernatural elements without it really being OTT or too weird.
I was the same with Velocity. I'm lucky I have some fab little charity shops near me that usually tend to have copies of his books and I'm looking out for another copy as I want to read it again. I've got 8 from charity shops recently and have only paid 50p for hardback copies so I do quite well getting those. Most recent purchase was Midnight. So will probably move onto that fairly soon.
I agree about The Good Guy and The Husband. I think I need to go have a look at his site again and get a list of all the ones I want to get again and go on a charity shop hunt although I do try to find ones I haven't read then grab any other favourites.
My favourite is Strangers but i would probably recommend someone start with Watchers or Lightening.
I do enjoy his books but find them a bit samey - he seems to have written a lot of "good guys being chased by bad guys" books. And he does tend to just throw in a bit of supernatural stuff into what would otherwise be a straightforward thriller (teleporting dog, anyone?!), which I'm not too keen on.
Watchers definitely. Its been a while since I read any DK stuff but I did like them.
While we're on the subject of DK, which book is it which has the main character kidnapped and being driven around in the middle of nowhere? Always reminded me of Peter Falconio's case. Real life imitating art.
possibly Watchers, IIRC that was about a dog. Dont really remember much of the story though LOL
Just had a look online and I don't think thats the one. I think the people in it turned into mutants or some kind of slime that was alive. Maybe I've made this up!
Sounds like "Midnight".

Is it Fear Nothing?
I read the first page online and I think that's it! Thanks everyone who answered.
Will make my mind up after I have read "A Game of Thrones".
