Hi folks,

Just thought I'd kick off the thread - a new comedy-drama set around a British Army bomb-disposal squad in Afghan.

Following promo has been released - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQZTIDOOz48

Radio Times piece - http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2013-02-14/bbc-afghanistan-bomb-disposal-comedy-bluestone-42-celebrates-the-bits-of-the-army-you-dont-see

Fansite - http://www.bluestone42.com/

Looks as though it'll be pretty good.

Although the report writing did make me smile.

The lead looking like the love child of Ben Fogel and Prince Williamia bit off putting

I'm not watching it at the moment, but from what you people are saying I don't know if it's worth a watch.

It's raised a couple of smiles, but the lead man is really annoying me for some reason - might give it another go next week, but wouldn't bother me if I missed it.

I dont think its supposed to the side splitting, just amusing. It was okay, seen worse on BBC3.

Could of course be a slow-burner - it was introducing the characters etc..

they are not showing that War is funny? i enjoyed it although i can see why some people might find it uncomfortable but i felt they did well combing comedy with a sensitive subject.

Some raised smiles, but hardly ground breaking comedy on BBC Three.

I don't think the BBC3 are trying to push it all that much, most of their recent commissions have been traditional sitcom ideas (but perhaps with a twist). Be interesting to see what reaction it's gets from the DM and The Sun though...

HD showings start at midnight next Tuesday (first two episodes).

With BBC HD closing in a couple of weeks, not sure if they'll show the whole series in HD.

Why can't they put it in HD on iPlayer now?

Just watched it. Pretty good so far. Echoes of M*A*S*H*. Kelly Adams is Yummo. On a technical point, I don't think a Forward Op. Base in Helmand would be built with so many trees outside the stockade-they'd either build on open ground, or cut the trees down.

As well as M*A*S*H* it also reminded me of Scrubs - similar set-up and pacing. Good first episode and an interesting cast of likeable pillocks.

But its not about the war, its about the antics on a base.

I thought it was quite good and will give it another go next week. Anyone know where they filmed it?
